panic disorder, depression and bipolar....oh my!!
« on: June 28, 2011, 12:08:45 AM »
Hi Im Kim and I'm plagued by mental illness. I thought I'd say hello. I'm here because I'm hoping to find information, help and possibly support. I am 31, married with 2 children. I am a mixed up pup or mut of mental disaray. my current issues range from self image, finance, cleaning issues, picking at my skin, racing thoughts, can't follow through with things, get distracted easily, counting and issues with social interactions. If you have anything in common then let's talk :action-smiley-065:

Hi Kim!

Welcome to Anxiety Zone!!!  :action-smiley-065:

I too have a large list of "labels":

GAD, Panic disorder, agoraphobia, depression, OCD and many specific phobias and weird fears.

From what it sounds like, you might have a touch of OCD too.

When I was going to therapy, my first day I brought up the fact that I have to put the silverware seperated in the dishwasher, keep things in alphabetized order, counting in my head when I'm walking, obsessing about other things too...this is OCD...I didn't want to add that to my already large list of disorders but I have come to accept it. It is treatable with Exposure Therapy (where you would NOT do those things, let yourself panic, realize you're ok and then keep doing it until you no longer panic or feel weird without doing it) Sounds easier than it is, but it can be done.

This can also help with panic disorder too.

I have depression caused by my anxiety disorders because when you can't stop all the weird feelings you get and can't explain it, it can cause you to become depressed. :(

I don't haven't been diagnosed with bi-polar and I don't know whether or not I do have it or if it's just hormones and anxiety.

Anyway, you will find TONS of help and support here!!
