difficult to talk about PTSD
« on: June 27, 2011, 12:22:09 PM »
of my mental health issues, PTSD is the hardest to talk about...even harder for some one to help me with.
I've had CBT therapy and drug therapy....it didn't work well for me.  Counselors/therapists have dropped me from their client list saying I was too difficult to work with.  I finally found refuge in avoidance.  But that hasn't stopped the daily daymares, nightmares, and stress from destroying my life.

It's been six years since first diagnosed with PTSD....I am on disability...and a burden to friends and family.  Most have abandoned me - I have worn them out.
I have lost insurance coverage of mental health services - they were cut from the benefits package due to the economy.

Being abandoned/left alone/isolated is a part of the trauma to me....I want to feel wanted/loved...I want to feel like I belong...I feel like I have been stripped of value as a human being.
so that's why I joined this chat room/forum - to belong - to be of value to those who suffer as I do.

if I can just talk a little bit at a time - perhaps with support I can survive this PTSD.

Does anyone else find it difficult to talk?

Talking about PTSD is difficult, I think, because it's not a very well-understood by most people, and because it's not a cheery topic.  I was diagnosed 10 years ago, but am only now really accepting what my psychiatrist had to say.  Sometimes it just takes time to process...
