Exchanging Notes: Helpful Products & Supplements (natural)
« on: June 25, 2011, 01:50:28 PM »
Does anyone use a particular product they'd like to tell others about that helps them with anxiety or physical symptoms?

There is a green-mix beverage called "Green Vibrance" that is awesome. Has so much good stuff in it and, if you have toidy issues, this'll cure what ails ya. Not diahrrea, just regular BMs. I can expect at least 2 BMs a day on this stuff. Maximum was 6 (though differing on the scale of impressiveness).

Another drink (mix) is Cardio-Juvenate. Check it out on Amazon. Seems to help the circulation in my hands & feet.

Neither of these are cheap, though... Cardio-Juvenate is $39.95 for 30 servings. Green Vibrance has 60 servings and is around $60, give or take, depending on where you get it.

My boyfriend finds he feels better by taking Oil of Oregano drops. I bought them and forget to take them, so I can't report how well it works with my totally random use. But when he had some sort of bug recently that made him feel really run down with his head "two sizes too big," this helped him get over it.

I'm a supplement junkie that forgets to take them. Sad, really. I guess I somehow feel the mere act of buying them is going to improve my health. Note to self: Must Put In Mouth.

What products do you swear by?

Niacinamide, working up to 2g in total per day, works on the same receptor sites and has the same method of action as benzos

I don't know offhand what benzos are supposed to help with - depression? Anxiety?

I read recently that St. John's Wort helps with obsessive, mind-looping thoughts.  I knew it was supposed to be for depression (I've never tried it - I don't have depression) but it sounds like it'd be good for health anxiety as well!

Well Fishoil and Vitamin B is excellent for Anxiety.

Either way it is in our nature to medicate ourself in order to control our feelings and sensation. The best thing I have learned in the last couple months to get away from anxiety is to say; " OK, I have anxiety. It's OK to have it. " and shrug it off.

I am starting to learn with it instead of fighting it and constantly focus on it.

Hmm, interesting recommendations Itzomi and Jammie.  May have to try it.  Over the years, I have tried everything from fish oil, Vitamin B, Magnesium, Calcium, L-Lysine (ummm, there is very weak scientific evidence linking this supplement to SSRI activity, but I doubt this), Chamomile tea, Kava, Valerian Root, passionflower extract, St Johns Wort, and even aromatherapy.  No luck whatsoever.  I do know that talk therapy, exercising, and meditating alleviate my cognitive based symptoms of anxiety, but I am still fighting a daily battle with the physiological and somatic symptoms.  I take 0.5mg Ativan about twice a week for those symptoms because absolutely nothing else works for me.  I quit Welbutrin last year because of unwanted weight loss, but I may have to resume this med because it has truly been the only thing that worked for me.  I am glad to hear that some people have success with natural therapy!   :action-smiley-065:

Yeah, that's true, focusing on it too much (including immersing oneself in self-help anxiety books and anxiety boards) doesn't always help.  It's just like going on a diet - you can't constantly think of food and what you should and shouldn't eat, but to try to lose the obsession with food altogether.  Part of the anxiety loop is the fear of anxiety itself!

I have a client of mine who is a psychologist and my daughter just finished her third year
as a psychology major and both said there are relatively new theories that say accepting
anxiety helps more than fighting it.

Accepting anxiety is not a new theory. Dr. Clare Weeks was the first person to develop a non-drug treatment program for anxiety over 50 years ago - her progran was total acceptance based. Feel and float!!!

Still used in major anxiety clinics world wide.

Dr.Jon Kabat Zinn has taught his version in almost every major hospital in the  USA over the past 25 years.

I have had severe anxiety - recovered 100% several times (for many years) and then stress put me back again. Anxiety drugs made me much worse so I have to do it all natural.
