freaking out please anyone respond

I have tried posting and chatting but no one has experience with this and I am so scared. I haven't been this scared in years. I got diagnosed with asthma when I was 8 and never have a problem unless I have a bad cold (last time was 7 years ago). As of Saturday my asthma has gotten so severe my rescue inahler doesn't help. It is not expired and I am using it correctly. I saw my dr today and he prescribed a steroid inhaler to use for 2 weeks but he said it will go away. I am terrified of the side effects. Uggh I feel so screwed right now. My asthma has never scared me ever. Now I am so scared I am going to die every second because I have no rescue inahler that helps. Please someone tell me something to bring me down. I hate this so much.

I don't have any experience with asthma, but maybe your anxiety is affecting your breathing? Like I said, I have no experience with asthma, so feel free to take this with a grain of salt.
