Sort of new to anxiety
« on: June 14, 2011, 10:20:07 PM »
Hi im 24 and a stay at home mom.After the first couple ER trips of thinking Im dying we figured out that its anxiety. My anxiety bothers me even when Im home and its gotten so bad i dont want to leave my house.(I also have skin lupus) I used to do things with my child go to parks and etc...I just cant get myself to do it.The thought gives me anxiety.I feel anxiety pretty much constantly and always the fast heart rate.When it gets really bad full blown panic attack I get fast heart rate beating out of my chest, shortness of breath,feeling the need to escape,shaking uncontrollably, hot/cold and feeling like im dying.I fear something will happen to me even in my home while im alone with my child.i didnt use to be like this I had a life with my family and friends and now Its just the same daily in the house day after day dreading going out.I am going to start seeing a counselor about it when they have a opening and tomorrow I am supposed to start taking the medicine buspar at my drs office.I am going to take the first dose there because Im worried about having a reaction to it.After reading all the patient reviews online from taking that medicine Im scared to even go to the appointment and the thought of taking any medicine anyways gives me anxiety.

{{HUGS}}

It will be ok. When I was first given Paxil by my Dr to take for my anxiety I was a nervous wreck, I also didn't want to be 'that kind' of person that could not handle life. After they have gotten my dosage right where it should be I am finally feeling like my old self. My DH told me tonight that I seemed happier......  You will be ok, just let the Dr help you =)

Dear Alexia,

I rarely come to this site any more because once I started reading the recommended literature here, saw a therapist, and started meds, I started to feel like a totally different person.

I, too, have been freaked out about meds but just a low dose of citalopram has helped me more than words can say.  Click on my name if you want my background info, but for me, I wish I had tried a low dose of a med many years ago because those wonderful years are now lost.

You can feel better.  There is hope.  Good luck to you.  Never give up- you CAN feel normal!

I too am new to this anxiety thing. I get stuck in my head and then any negative thought will spiral me downward. After a while all my thoughts become negative and fearfull feeding the anxiety even more. I found lots of great advise for staying present in the book "The Power of Now"
by Echart Tolle. I try to read it everyday. Might help.
