neck,head problems
« on: May 22, 2011, 09:12:10 AM »
tense neck for god knows how long it seems like its always tense or sore in one spot I dont know if its my pillows, how I sleep, or just my neck is awful.

woke up this morning with some kind of aches on the right side of my head, couldnt tell if it was my neck or my head.. but of course it has to be the morning headaches which im afraid because brain tumors cause morning headaches. i feel worse during the mornings definitley, especially anxiety wise, but even with the soreness in my neck and the aches in my head... not HORRIBLE pains, just enough aching to nagg me

I can feel my entire body is anxious though as soon as I wake up

Also did not sleep well again for the 14th night in a row, woke up the same times every night .. 1 am 3 am 5 am 630 am and 730 am ... I take my zoloft at 10 pm at night I dont know if that has anything to do with it.. But im going to start taking it at 5 pm instead and see if that helps, ill take it with my dinner

I dont know why I cant get this brain tumor fear out of my head its very bad

half the time Im about to say something to my mom or something, and I forget what Im going to say... of course I have to get that too...

These headaches are very annoying

If it was a brain tumor would these headaches really be excruciating, or just annoying? Im sick of them

I had a therapist once tell me a great analogy for anxiety.

Picture your brain as a room. Picture it full of mess, but you are diligently working at vacuuming your mess. Then suddenly, the window flies open and streams of mess pour in. Well, you're already filing and vacuuming away what you can handle, so you try to ignore the things flying through the window. Well, the brain must do something to remind you to take care of the things flying through the window, so it begins to give you physical reminders. "Deal with this. Deal with this. Deal with this." And this is when anxiety becomes overwhelming -- because you're managing the stuff on the floor all right, but if you add the stuff from the window, it's overwhelming. And then the physical reminders from the brain makes you just want to withdraw from all of it.

Therapy, medication, a healthy lifestyle can all help address and sort the mess. I am on Cymbalta because it also addresses the physical pains associated with anxiety -- and mine most often arrived in the form of tension headaches and debilitating migraines. Depending on how long you've been taking the Zoloft you may need to change the dosage OR stick with it for the six week period it takes to give you its full effect. If that does not work for you, you might ask your psychiatrist about other medications that may be more helpful.

Also, please check out this thread about coping strategies for HA sufferers!

Hope you feel better soon!

And it rolls about like this: Unconscious ignorance, conscious ignorance, conscious competence, unconscious competence. Then it repeats. Nobody is ever truly a master at anything, there is always something to learn, either by mind or body.

Sound all related to stress and anxiety. When you are anxious and stressed out,
your body can tense up, which causes many aches and pains, etc. to occur and can
make you feel generally lousy.

I started Zoloft a month ago and for the first 3 weeks I had tension horribly and jaw was always locked up. I am better with the tension but now have the aches of the after effects of being so tense for so long. If you just started the Zoloft it very well could be the same thing. I had this happen years ago as well when I started Celexa. It ebbs off after the first few weeks.

I have taken zoloft many times in the past, and from what I understand, you are supposed to take it in the morning for it to be fully effective. Not sure if you're psychiatrist told you otherwise; if not, maybe you should ask if you are supposed to take it in the morning?
