Are these painkillers addictive?
« on: April 22, 2011, 12:45:16 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if co-codamol painkillers are addictive or habit-forming over a period of time?

Recently i have noticed a relative of mine that has 2 co-codamol painkillers every 4 hours, every day for the past few months. Speaking with someone else about this, this other person told me that the relative in question has done this regularly for over 10 years. It started off due to a long term condition which resulted in pain, however after this amount of time having passed since then i am not very sure that the co-codamol is being taken for pain relief anymore.

I tried discussing the painkillers with my relative not long ago - and they got very defensive and snapped at me to mind my own business. She also has boxes of the stuff. She said its because she feels pains every day.

Could this just be a pain relief issue, or can it be a habit?
