head pain!
« on: April 12, 2011, 02:31:11 PM »
hey everyone! im freaking out again over brain aneurysm or brain tumor..i have always had these fears because almost everyday i see little black spots randomly that appear in my vision. this has been happening for over 2 years now, in that time i have also had two children..so im sure that has raised my anxiety levels. anyway, for as long as i can remember, ive always had headaches just like "regular" headaches, maybe caused from stress or not enough sleep. but for the past few months i have been noticing something a little different. that most of the time when i cough really hard i get a pain in my head. its usually in the same spot too. even if i dont already have a headache and i cough this pain happens for like 1 second and then goes right away. it is not severe or anything but i definitly notice it! ive read online that brain tumors and aneurysms can cause this and i am freaking out now! has anyone experienced this??

yes i have a similar thing above and including the right eye that has been going on for over two years.it happens when i cough or sneeze, but not every time and it is sometimes followed by a mild headache on the top of the head above the right eye that lasts from a few minutes to a few hours and i get it most days, sometimes it just happens in the right eye and it is not affected by running or bending.sometimes i just get the slight headache without coughing or sneezing.

I am experiencing this right now even when I cough, strain or bend over. What was your final diagnosis?

I doubt that this is a brain tumors considering how many people are posting that they have this. We would all have brain tumors then, which is extraordinarily unlikely. You can also count me in the group. I have this extremely often. In fact for a week now, since my last migraine attack, I have had a pain on the right side of my head, almost near the top. It is very precise in that spot and sometimes it can be quite sharp. Sharp enough to make me wince. I feel it mostly when I strain and also when I go up the stairs. Basically if you have a sore area and headaches are mostly sore nerves, the more blood you push into the area, the worse the pain. That's why it hurts mostly or only when you strain or exert yourself. I've had MRI's and CT Scan's done. Nothing has been found.

That's good news to hear! Right now I'm waiting on my MRI sometime next week and having the vicious circle of whether the headaches/nausea etc is part of my symptoms or if they are a result of my HA which is very confusing!
