fatigue, sick feeling, fatigue!!!!!
« on: April 02, 2011, 07:36:23 PM »
If you'll look at my post history I know I have a lot of topics on the subject but I just reallly need someone to relate to me right now, constantly for the past, I don't know, 3 years? I feel fatigued, like I've just ran a marathon did a thousand burpies, I'm always sweating my legs and arms just feel worn out, stiff joints, I do have severe GAD and hypochondria but can it actually make me feel like I'm coming down with the flu constantly? Does anyone else feel like this allll the time?

I'm not on any medication, not seeing a therapist, and I hate life.

Anxiety does a number on the body, so yes it can make you feel that way. I always feel tired and worn out no matter how much sleep and relaxation I get.

Hope you get to feeling better soon,
Ashley

Yes, it definitely can make you feel as if you were coming down with the flu. In the last couple of years I have often felt that way, as if the flu or other virus was gonna take me over. Suprizingly, the last time I really had the flu was 12 years ago. Anxiety can do a lot of nasty things to you. I do not have this feeling right now, but I had this very often in the past.

Periods of debilitating fatigue have been my primary symptom for the last two years.  It wasn't until very recently that I figured out anxiety, depression and obsessing about my health was causing it.  How can I be sure?  Because I have had over five dozen tests, three surgeries and two trips to Mayo...in the last two years!  There isn't anything left that hasn't been checked or fixed.

Nothing has been identified as a reason for my fatigue, despite having been diagnosed with sleep apnea and chronically positive mono (very rare).  All doctors have indicated that my level of fatigue is due to my emotional and psychological state.

So, yes, I can personally attest to the fact that fatigue is directly connected to my anxiety and depression.  And I'm not talking the fatigue you might get after exercising too hard.  I'm talking the kind that makes your arms and legs feel heavy and weak.  The kind where you can't possibly get enough sleep.  The kind where you can't focus on anything, and wake up barely able to function, even after 8+ hours of quality sleep.
