Chat Room Moderator Position Now Available

Greetings

Anxiety Zone is currently seeking one (possibly two) additional Moderators to assist with the management of the chat room. While this is a chat room-focused Moderator position, you will also have moderation abilities on the forum as well.

Being a Moderator is an important responsibility that requires patience, maturity and people skills. Since Moderators represent the site itself, it is vitally important that they set a good example for other members and assist them when issues arise as well as keeping the chat room safe and free of spam, vulgar language, trolling, harassment and other inappropriate behavior and/or content. Being a Moderator is a volunteer position.

Moderators are appointed based on a number of criteria:

All types of Moderators should...

* Greet new members and make them feel welcome
* Possess good verbal/communication and people skills.
* Be fair, impartial, reasonable, measured, consistent and open-minded.
* Be professional and courteous at all times.
* Be active on the forums or chat rooms on a daily basis.
* Have a friendly, compassionate, supportive disposition.
* Be dependable, responsible and trustworthy.
* Be mature, level-headed and a "hands-on" type of person.
* Be ambitious, motivated and results-oriented.
* Be a good example/role model for other Anxiety Zone members
* Respect other member's privacy (this includes the privacy of any/all administrators, Moderators and members). Use the PM system to discuss sensitive information and only discuss it with the person entitled to know about it.
* Be willing to report spam, solicitations, diffuse problems (when they arise) and play an active role in YOUR community here.
* Be a "team player", willing to keep in touch and collaborate with staff and other Moderators here as the need arises.
* Have been an active member for 3 months or longer.

I know I am new to the site, however I feel that I would be a great asset to the team.  I have a degree in sociology/social work.  I have been involved in many group treatment settings.  I feel I am compassionate and loyal.  I have many years experience in the medical field and I understand the importance of privacy.  I have suffered from anxiety for 16 years and I feel I have a lot of experience and knowledge that I can utilize.  I have always wanted to have the opportunity to give back what I have learned as well as learn more from others in similar situations.  Please consider me for the position.

I've been a member since last November.  I have suffered with Anxiety/Panic Disorder ever since I can remember.  I have been on all kinds of meds, have seen all kinds of Drs and therapists, but this site is the only thing that has gotten me through some pretty rough times in my life.  I would love nothing more than to help other people who suffer from this debilitating disorder.

Dear Grey Goose,

I have been a member of this site for almost 2 yrs now. I have interacted with many of our members. Rather it be a crisis situation or just general chat. I am familiar with the rules and guidelines that are set to guide this chat. I would love nothing more than to become a moderator so I may help others just as myself. But more importantly to be able to give back to this chat room as it has helped me so very much. I would like to take the time to thank you in advance for your consideration..

I've been part of the site for about a year now, maybe a little more, and I'm always in chat helping people. I work from home, so I have a lot of time on my hands to help and I believe a lot of people would agree that I have helped them considerably.  I'm available should you need me at any time, I don't keep "normal" eastern timezone hours so I'm flexible.

I also moderate on another (non-anxiety related) forum, had my own forum for years and know how to manage and deal with a large scale of people in a forum/chat atmosphere.

Many people here seem to respect me because of how much time I've already put in, so if you need help I'd be more than happy to give it. Thanks.

The logical choice would be somebody who uses both forum and chatroom. Unless it is said that a chatroom moderator is needed. I look at Six for example. Over 10,000 posts. She also gives time to the forum. To help people there. Which a lot of chatters fail to do. Time zone will come into it as well. We have American moderators, Australian moderators. Doesn't seem like anybody from Europe wants the job. It would be good to see someone from the UK or mainland Europe as a moderator. No I am not applying. More stating, having read a few posts from those looking for the position, that a few more forum posts might put you in contention. Bit of balance. Room and Forum. Great this evening. The room is down. The forum posting is up big time. So who can both post on the forum and help others out there and do the same in the room as well? If you were told you had to do both. Not point applying unless you were willing to do both. How many takers we would have?

A good combination of posts and activity in chat would an ideal choice for a chat room mod. I think that it doesnt necessarily matter with the location as much, because alot of people are night owls lol. Hopefully whoever gets chosen stays for the long hall and provides a much needed balance in the chat, its been a little hectic as of late. I most certainly dont have the time to be a mod which is why I havent had the chance to apply. Being a mod in the chat is tough for sure so hopefully we find someone willing to take the responsibility. Good luck to whoever applies.

I would like to opt for this position. I am 25 year old male, formerly a police department employee and also trained as an EMT. I am a family man, I am very polite and friendly. Im well versed with computers and networking, and I also am very familiar with anxiety based conditions and feelings. I'm quite confident I can benefit the site if give the position of mod. I suffer from panic disorder and hypochondriasis and am very good at talking people and working people through it. Thank you

I would have offered my services but I don't think it would be a good idea right now. I think tam, who is a great lady, helpful and supportive, and also like ashes said joycicle, for the same reasons.. would both be great mods.

I really wish that floridaguy65 would consider the job. It's seems that every time I have had a problem or read other folks problems he gives fantastic insight. Even when posters are down right irritating (as us anxiety prone people can be) he is very patient and understanding. It is a special gift that some people are able to calm others down by saying exactly the right thing when needed. Anyway, I don't even know the man & he probably don't want the job but I think he would serve as a fantastic & fair moderator. Just saying!

I don't know if you're still looking for someone but I am interested. I am the office manager for a St. louis psychiatrist so I have some experience with anxiety disorders...just from working here. I also have suffered from PTSD, GAD, Hypochondria and depression for many years. I'm a graphic design student and have lots of experience on forums. I've been a member of this community for quite some time and I'd be happy to help if you need another moderator.
