Greetings members...
After taking a poll, requesting input and taking into consideration the suggestions that were made, I have completely redone the Flash chat room. Problems have been solved, improvements have been made and I will continue to listen to suggestions so that it can hopefully be improved even more in the future. Here's a run down on the new, better, Flash chat room...
* File sharing!. Per the request of one of the members here, you can now share files by simply left-clicking on another member's name and selecting "Share File". Supported formats include: txt, rtf, tar.gz, zip, rar, jpg, gif, png, bmp, sit and pdf. The file size limit is 2MB.
* No more "Alice_the_nanobot".
* No more conflicting or confusing text and background color combinations. I've created a theme called "AZ_Theme" which is a neutral gray with a white chat background (just like the other chat room) and have disabled all other themes (including the "custom background" option) so that everyone will now be forced to use the same default theme (although you can still choose from a variety of text styles, sizes and colors).
* The private message window can now be resized.
* As before you can choose from a variety of avatars.
* All other features and options have remained the same.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Flash has it's own system for caching files and preferences so if you log into the chat room and discover that all of your text is white or "invisible" or things just don't seem quite right, please follow the instructions below...
1) Completely log out of the chat room by using your browser's "Back" button or by closing the browser.
2) Next, click on the link below...
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html#1177173) When you arrive at the page after clicking on the link above, you will see a Settings Manager dialog box. In the lower portion of this dialog box locate "
www.anxietyzone.com", highlight it (it should turn blue) and then click on the "Delete" button. Confirm that you wish to perform the deletion.
4) Log back into the chat room. Done.
(You can not solve the Flash caching issue by simply changing your text color or making other changes from the options menu because each time you log into the chat room again, you will have to make those same changes over and over again because your setting will not be saved from the last time).
