Abdominal pain. Scared of OvCa.
« on: March 22, 2011, 02:13:37 AM »
So, I haven't posted in a long time...but Ive been around. I love this place. :) I could use a little support now.....

Starting about a month ago I got a weird pressure, tightness around the front of my abdomine and my lower back was aching BAD. I started experiencing mild heartburn too. The back pain finally went away (for the most part) but I am stuck with the strange abdominal pain (comes and goes) heartburn and a strange "bruised" type feeling on the top of my right hip bone that also comes and goes.

Ive been to my GP twice. He did a full pelvic exam (not internal, just the kind that they push on your abdomaine) and at first blamed it on menstration  Im 35 years old...I know what my period feels like. Geez. Anyway, he schedule me a follow up for three weeks later but I went back with in a week because I had sharp pains by my ovaries for part of one day. (not ovulating) He did the pelvic exam again and said everything felt perfect and that he is not concerned. WELL I AM!!! I feel like this is the typical scenario that the Dr. just explains away these symptoms only for the woman (me) to find out a few months from now that I have ovarian cancer and if only I would have caught it sooner....etc. I dont have any bowel or bladder issues. Everything is normal there, just this nagging achy feeling off and on, the ache on my hipbone, and a slightly sore lower back. All of which gets worse after lying down sleeping for a while......idk. I'll be honest, I GOOGLED and just read some scary stuff.

Im just scared. Any Ladies out there have any words of advice, comfort, can you relate?

Thanks,

Lovejah

I went through Ovarian Cancer last year. My GP says that if you are slim, they are able through pelvic exam check if there's something wrong with your ovaries, if they can feel them it means they enlarge and have to further invastigate it, if not it's all good. I am 35 as well, not on a birth control and every month before my period I experience so weird symptoms it's not funny.

I have been having the EXACT same symptoms off and on since before Christmas.  My lower back got much better, but the soreness/bruising feeling in my hip still comes and goes.  I also have the discomfort in my lower right stomach.  Seems like it's worse during ovulation.  Also, my heartburn seems like it's worse.  Idk.  Mine seems worse after sitting or lying down too.  I'm due for my yearly well woman check up soon and will see what my dr thinks.
