Just had to add my 2 cents here. I was a horrible mess about 5 yrs ago and felt I was ready to end it all. I went on Lexapro and it saved my life. It took about a month to feel the benefits of it, however I don't remember having any adverse reactions to it. I was on it for about a year and was fine for the past 4. Today I had to start the Lexapro again, I was going into that desperate place again.  I hope my body will take to it like it did last time. Give it some time at least a month and maybe take something like Xanax to get you through the hard times while the medication can do it's work, that's why I've done. However if you feel you can not tolerate the feelings you're having call your Doctor.. Best of luck to you and I pray mine will help me again this time :)

I'm done with this thread, as I said I am not here to argue opinions or facts for that matter.

I am not for or against meds, they do serve a purpose, and to each their own. They do help alot of people, for some they dont. Enough said. For me any way.

Carryon- thank you for your advice. I am still trying to remain positive, although I am pretty anxious. i know often times the dr.s will prescribe a benzo along with an AD becaus it can be rough going at first and anxiety can increase. Unfortunately I cannot take benzos (don't do well on them) but that thought is giving me the strength to keep going. Randy- don't give up just yet. I've had moments of wanting to commit myself, lol, and if I can keep trying, so can you! plus light headeness and dizziness is common. Please hang in there with me :action-smiley-065:

MommyL- no apologies needed. i understood exactly what you wee saying. I do not think you were being judgmental against meds at all. I do believe you have to give the med a fair shot, but I also believe not every med is right for every person. i took one pill of effexor and ended up in the er after hallucinating. Some people cannot tolerate meds at all. Your thoughts ae valid! take care

Thanks Kristen, I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say, I wasnt trying to step on toes.

I really hope that you are able to get some relief, whether that is through meds, therapy, here, whatever works for you.

Please take care

I am not taking any sides on this one, but in my "opinion," through personal experience, medication is truly beneficial for those who suffer from anxiety!  Some people are sometimes unable to tolerate meds well!  You do have to deal with the side effects long enough in order to eventually get to the feeling of relief!  Unfortunately some folks choose to not deal with the side effects, therefore not taking the meds for long enough to feel the benefits!  Some people are more sensitive and others can "tough it out!"  I have tried natural supplements in the past and it did nothing for me!  I think some might benefit from natural supplements whose condition is not severe!  Maybe helpful to those with mild to maybe moderate cases of anxiety!  I have benefited tremendously from medication!  I was once anti-meds, but not anymore!

Carryon, you make some very valid points!  I have been following a lot of your threads and I must say that you really have great advice and responses even though some people might mistakenly think that you are challenging them!  You speak your opinion even though it can get under peoples skin!  Not many people will disagree here as I noticed, but you certainly speak your mind, and I thinks that's great!

It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

I agree about trying the medicine and toughing out the side effects, but I've been through anxiety hell for the last 7 months. I hardly ever have good experiences with medicines. I take Remeron at night to help me sleep and I take klonopin now as needed. So I'm going to stick with these two for now. I wanted to stay on the lexapro bad since I know allot of my fellow BFS'rs have had good experience's with it. But it was just to much for me to handle right now.

And I agree with it's "a good thing to speak ones mind", but give it up after a while. I got his point after the first post and I understood what he was saying but It's my choice and that's the way it is. And you are taking sides when you mention names by the way... ::)

And Kristen if I decide to give it a go one more time I will let you know, but I did not take one last night and I feel allot better today. I wish you luck with it and I hope and pray it helps you to feel better. God Bless

Good point Randy. This is a support forum, not a debate forum. Nice to see you didnt take sides there Pauly.

Everyone is entitled to there opinions on here, and entitled to share them.

I hope we can all continue to just share and offer support.

Take care EVERYONE
