Zyprexa for Anxiety
« on: March 05, 2011, 03:01:29 PM »
I was wondering if anyone else is taking Zyprexa for their anxiety and how it's working for them. My doctor started me off on 15mg a long with my 40mg of Paxil and 1mg of Clonazepam (taken twice daily) on the 25th of February. It wasn't working so he upped the dosage of Zyprexa to 30mg (once in the morning and twice at night) a long with my 40mg of Paxil in the morning and 1mg of Clonazepam (once in the morning and two at night). My doctor's expecting it to get better by the middle of next week. I just want my appetite to get back to normal and to taking sips from my drinks. I know it takes a while for it to get working, but I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

If you look on the net zyprexa is for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I think its a bit over the top for someone with an anxiety disorder.

I dont know what it is with doctors nowadays. I make sure I do my own research on meds before taking some new meds. Even if its a doctor prescribing it. I had a few bad experiences so being diligent is important.

I have GAD along with Depression. Several months ago my doctor added Zyprexa to augment my Lexapro. I was started on a much lower dose (2.5mg) and maxed out at 10mg. It made me sleepy and increased my appetite, so I gained some weight. I did not notice any benefit from it. I had to switch psychiatrists for other reasons and my new doc had me quit the Zyprexa and we're trying other meds. So, Zyprexa didn't help me BUT I was on a different dose and everyone is different, so don't worry. If it doesn't help, keep working with your doc. Good luck!
