Having trouble accepting diagnosis please help
« on: February 28, 2011, 11:55:01 AM »
So I have talked about this so much u all are sick of hearing about it no doubt haha.....

Symptoms:
-Flat Stool
-Weight Loss (seems to have plateaued gained a few lbs since appetite returned)
-Night sweats (didnt really have them last night)

Anyways as I have mentioned a thousand and 1 times....I have seen 6 ER docs and my PCP. I have had a CBC, fecal occult blood test, diabetes test, thyroid test, urinalysis, inflammation test marker (shows inflammation in the body), enzymes tested to see if muscle is wasting in body, pancreas test, liver functioning test, platelet count, white blood cell count....all came back normal. Yet, I am still getting flat stool and feel run down. I need to accept this and move on. I am just having trouble doing that. If anyone can help me that would be great. I would really appreciate it.

Hi Adam:) Welcome and I hope you find assurances you are not alone in your struggles:)

HA can rip our lives apart when in it's full grip. When hyper-anxious we, often, lose the ability to have clear-headed lines of thinking...and we DWELL on our "health issues" and all else can fall to the wayside. I have been dealt with it myself (still do, to my own extents) and have had MUCH interaction with many others suffering dearly.

Here's your symptoms:
Symptoms:
-Flat Stool: This is not an issue without many more serious symptoms. Flat stools CAN be caused by anxiety fritzing up our digestion.

-Weight Loss (seems to have plateaued gained a few lbs since appetite returned): Ok, with a serious sinister disease ONCE the weight loss begins it doesn't stop without major medical intervention.

-Night sweats (didnt really have them last night)
Nights sweats from a serious disease are drenching (completely soaked bed clothes and sheets), nearly always. This is not a "damp" here and a little sweaty there type thing.

I went back and read your previous posts, as well. You have had many, many, many med tests and Doc visits recently. IMHO, You DO NOT need more. You have been given the "all clear" numerous times...NOTHING is going to change from your "all clear". Anxiety, though it can be a royal BIT*#, isn't going to make you come down with ANY disease you fear. The reason the Docs keep telling you that for your age all your perceived issues are very RARE is because the Docs are telling you the TRUTH. They are NOT simply discounting you because you are 24...you don't have the other legitimate symptoms they are looking for in sinister diseases. Adam, there have been countless peeps, suffering mightily from HA, come here to this forum and they are CERTAIN (I mean 100%...not 99%) that they have a serious organic issue causing their symptoms (both physical and emotional). To my knowledge, NONE have "gotten" or had what they feared. Then, they must go about their business in attempting to seek out their healing paths from HA / ADs. IMHO, you must do the same.

You must find a way to reduce your overall anxiety. Whether it is through meds, therapy, self-help (there are MANY avenues of self-help) or whatever...you must find something, and quickly, IMHO. HA very often has the dominating ability to make a person feel that they, simply, can not afford the time or energy to worry about anything else but their health. HA masks many of our fears and insecurities about life, in general. The thought process typical goes: "How can I worry about my job, my relationships, my going forward in life when I MUST worry non-stop about my health". This irrational, negative thought process will cause serious lifeflow interruptions and can really spiral out of control, until some alleviation of overall anxiety is found.

Adam, you have had so many tests (which is not all that uncommon with HA, mind you)...you do NOT have a disease or health issue that requires all your mental energy and resources (money and time) to be spent in searching. What you do have is a pretty textbook case of HA (with lots of other anxiety, too) that has reached hyper levels which DOES require your mental energy and resources.

Currently, what do you feel are your options as far as alleviating some of your overall anxiety? There is hope and help...this I know to be true:)

Peace and Feel Well:)
