I'm not the only one.

Hi :action-smiley-065:, I'm 19 years old and new to this sight. I have been short of breath for the past 11 months I have been to multiple doctors including the Mayo clinic. but it seems there is nothing physically wrong with me. I have been exploring my options and I came across this sight and read other people's post and it became clear to me once I read others symptoms that anxiety is definitely what is causing my shortness of breath and chest pain. but it definitely feels a bit relieving that this is not in my head and there are other people out there suffering from this. (Not that I'm glad other people have this but you get what I'm sayin'  ::) )

Welcome aboard Grace

I am glad that you found this site and some reassurance for your shortness of breath and chest pain!  Many people suffer the same symptoms from anxiety!  You have had very good care from the doctors and the Mayo clinic!  If they say nothing is wrong then you can most likely consider your symptoms as anxiety!  You will find this site to be very supportive and informative too!

It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

Welcome to the site. Hard to begin to imagine that anxiety can be causing all your problems. We all feel that way to begin with. That is has to be something else. It can't just be anxiety. But once we accept it is anxiety and begin to learn more about anxiety and how to deal with it, we find things become a little easier. Can take time. Lot of hard work on our parts. But it is all worth it. Hope you enjoy the forum here. Lot of like minded people. All willing to help out if they can.

Welcome; you will find kindred spirits here with lots of relevant experience. I am curious about one thing you say: you're glad it's not in your head. What do you mean?
