Anyone still tingling or numb?
« on: February 21, 2011, 10:53:31 PM »
When I first started coming on here, about a month ago, there were a lot of posts about tingling and MS fears. This was incredibly helpful to me.. But I'm wondering if anyone is still tingling? I sure am. It has gotten a bit better, but it's still scaring me. A lot. I'm waiting for my CT scan and neuro visit. Early march. But in the meantime the fear is ruining my life. Does anyone know about pinched nerves?
I'm also dizzy. This started just a few days ago, the tingling and numb feeling in my arms and legs and face has been happening for 5 weeks now. It is driving me crazy. :(

hi mizzou, did the er doctor say it was anxiety? I saw your post about being flush too, I had the same thing, along with the tingling, which got me to the er too. But actually, funnily enough, hilarious actually, the doctor wrote down and underlined "not an anxious patient". Which kinda freaked me out. But I didn't want to mention the fact that I actually have major anxiety, because I didn't want the diagnosis of " just anxiety".
I don't know what to do anymore I feel so emotionally exhausted.

Honestly, this is the most worrisome part of my anxiety all together. There are SO many bad things out there that have come up for "numbness in the limbs" in my Google'ing ventures. I've went to the doctor specifically for that, and after blood tests and what not (basically done just to reassure me) he proved a point - anxiety DOES cause numbness and tingling anywhere and everywhere. I've even had my mouth (gums, teeth, tongue) become numb. It's all in our heads. *sighs* It seems so real. We do have to think of the more logical thing though, you know? We have one thing confirmed, one diagnosis - anxiety. Anxiety causes numbness. I know it's hard to leave it at that and accept it. I hope you and I, and everyone else can get through this. Best of wishes dear.

YES!!!!! I started having dizzy spells last July (off and on, never daily), and saw my GP about that a few times, and he thinks I may have BPPV. I guess it feels worse when I turn my head certain directions, but I thought BPPV had more obvious triggers, like rolling over in bed?  Anyway, last month I started getting random tingling in different parts of my body. They usually lasted seconds to minutes.  GP says "anxiety".  Tingling seemed to go away last week, but now I'm having perceived numbness in different parts of my leg.  Worse when I wake up (sleeping the wrong way??), but never a complete loss of sensation. I think as the day goes on, it gets better, but of course, I'm doubting myself 24/7!! Doc said if I continue worrying, just call the neuro....(sigh), may just have to do that. :(  He has told me several times none of my symptoms are red flags for MS, but I can't stop thinking about it.  I had blood tests to rule out thyroid, diabetes, hypoglycemia, and I think I actually worried more because I tested negative for all that stuff! (i.e. "Well, if it isn't metabolic, then what the heck is wrong with me"?!)

Tarheel-that sounds so similar to me! Today I'm not dizzy but I was yesterday. Tingling comes and goes and my numbness isn't truly numb... I had all the bloodwork too and had been hoping for b12 deficiency. But everything was good. I went to the doctor again today and she didn't reasure me at all. So scared. I want this to be over :(

They told me the tingly form my face could be from my delayed insulin release(Told by Endocronologist), but my face gets red, amy ears get red and hot at times, and my hands are red and blotchy. Every doctor says its interesting, but I havent got a true diagnosis yet. I do suffer from low testosterone, so maybe that could be it as well, as I have a hormone imbalance, but my anxiety always pictures the worse. I done countless research, and all I see about red palms is liver failure(Yet I got 3 LFT's done and a CT scan done of my abdominal area and all was good). So I just suffer day to day till I get a true diagnosis. A dermatologist said it could be rosacea, but hands dont get red and blotchy from rosecea. the only thing is, they tested me for Lupus(Came back Negative), Carcinoid syndrome(Done 5-HIAA,Chromagranin A and CT Scan of Ab and all were negative for tumors), They checked for pheyocytoma and that was negative. All I know is this istinging redness in my face really bothers me, cause it dont just come and goes, its pretty much just there. I also get splinter hemmeroaghes and I dont know where that comes from.

I have MS (the real kind hehe) and I never get redness in my face nor dizzy spells. I get tingling, but 99% of the time it is my anxiety. I notice the numbness/tingling in my face (mainly near my chin) when I am stressed the most. On good days, nothing.

I have posted many times in threads about MS so I will tell you what I told others; if you had MS, the tingling and numbness would not go away and come back. It would get progressively worse until you had no feeling in your face. While blood work does not detect MS, that's a good sign that everyone's blood work is normal. When I have an MS flare, my WBC goes up a tad. Trust me when I say this, you do not have MS.

Good luck!

Thanks Id Smash. That definitely makes me feel better. :)   In reality, I'm sure MS isn't all THAT bad, right? I personally don't know anyone w/ MS, so maybe that's part of my problem (fear stemming from ignorance, too much googling, etc)?

Thanks again Id Smash. you always make me feel better...

lately though i've been worrying about it more, even though the tingling has been kinda getting better. i don't know. it comes and goes but throughout the day. it doesn't go for longer than maybe 30 minutes. i saw the doctor again yesterday and i said i was feeling a bit better, because i know i don't have any really drastic symptoms, and she then said "neurological disorders don't always present themselves like that, and that it could be very gradual." so now i'm all worried again.
and i've been thinking, what if its worse than ms! i've been so worried about ms, which i know isn't the worst thing in the world.. but i haven't even considered, until yesterday, what if its way worse. omg. i can't stop and i'm driving everyone around me nuts. :(

i'm so reassured to know others on here have similar symptoms, but if this is all anxiety related i feel so bad for us.
why can't we all just relax and not imagine the worst??

You are going to drive yourself CRAZY if you don't try to relax. There is nothing wrong with you, hun. You have anxiety, nothing more. You just need to tell yourself that everytime you have one of these symptoms. They go away eventually, right? So, tell yourself that each time it happens. "This just happened the other day. It went away. Nothing bad happened. It's just a feeling". After saying that to yourself go watch a movie or do something fun to take your mind off it. The feeling will go away but the more you stress about it the worse it's going to get.

Thanks Id Smash, but (I always have a but!) it's not like it goes away.. Even when I'm preoccupied doing other things I still notice it. I don't know. This Is my worst bout of HA ever.  I Want to believe it's anxiety, but why has it never presented itself this way before?
