it's possible, many strange things happen when we sleep. heck, one time i woke up and i was watching my body get up from a third person point of view. talk about odd! i know there are times when i wake up in panic mode as well so i wouldn't worry much about it.

Well i think from what you've said there's two things that happen to me when i'm asleep there's one where i'll fall asleep and i wake back up but i can't move my body. I'll have to sit there paralysed basically and try to focus all my energy on moving a certain part of my body (usually my arm) and then kind of shake the rest of my body awake. There's another where i'll be having a dream and all of a sudden in that dream i'll start to not be able to breath or note or anything i feel helpless like i'm about to die but then i'll jolt myself awake and i feel better and everything is fine again. These things will scare me but i don't think anything of them anymore. They scare me when they happen though but i brush it off. I hope my experiences helped you Idk if it's the same thing you had but these are similar to what you described so i thought i'd post them. Hope you get through this :)

Many panic attacks can happen in your sleep and that is what may have happened to you.
You may also just have been sleeping funny, had a nightmare you don't remember or experienced
a normal jolt some of us have when just falling asleep.
