I just joined the site today and this is my first reply.  I wrote an entire intro, but realized I went over my sign-in time..... lost the whole thing!  Will have to write again.  In the meantime, I've been dealing with a horrible period of HA for the last 6 months.  You name it.... I've had it!  Right now, I'm stuck on ALS/MS. If I can get past it, I'm hoping I will be close to ending this.  I seriously think I've run out of diagnoses!  Anyway.... here is what I'm trying:

Accupuncture - Only been to one session.  Not sure what the needles did, but the accupuncturist set me up with a detox program, supplements, herbs and a diet plan.  I went right out and bought a Nutri-Bullet and I've been following the plan for a little over a week.  Feels good to be doing something positive for my health.  My interest in the whole program has also been a great diversion from the negative thoughts, the internet, etc

Have an appointment with a therapist next week.

Will do my best to stop Googling (seriously, I think I've read everything on there by now anyway!)

Just ordered:  "It's Not In Your Head" from Amazon.  Got pretty good reviews.

If you have Christian Beliefs, I recommend "Jesus Calling"... provides short daily devotionals that provide a lot of comfort and encouragement.  Most days I am amazed that it actually feels like it was written just for me!

Good Luck everyone!  This has been hell, but I have to get out of this!

Glad to hear from you, mjd83 and OTGirl.  It sounds as if you both have found some positive steps that are leading you to a better place, which is fantastic and commendable.

For me, both exercise and religious devotion/spirituality are very helpful, too. I am Catholic, and the meditative and repetitive aspects of the rosary are really helpful -- quieting the mind and focusing my attention on God and others is always good for me.

I recently bought a bike -- I like to run and walk, but I've always been a reluctant cyclist. However, just taking short trips around town on a decent bike to do my errands has brought me a lot of joy and fun (and distraction). It's hard to feel worried or anxious when you're gliding down a tree-lined street, or dodging cars, or hauling a week's worth of groceries up a hill, figuring out the gas money I'm saving. Every trip is a mini-adventure.

What a wonderful idea!

OK.  Like many of you, I am NOT going to Google as Google is not my friend.  Honest to Pete, I never used to be like this, always going to the worst-case scenario.  I have no problem believing there are far more hypochondriacs today than there were at the turn of the last century.

I will visit this site regarding HA but none other - it's a slippery slope.

And I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I'm also going to try to stay away from the doctor.  I'm tired of going to the doctor and being terrified she'll tell me that "this time, this is it."  I have to learn to accept my body is going to do the odd crazy thing or two, especially when it's having to deal with this overwhelming anxiety.

This is just what I need right now. I'm in the "accepting the diagnosis" stage of things, and know its time to get past the worrying about the what-ifs that were just confirmed negative. I have had severe leukemia fears and what I thought were / are petechiae spots on my legs. Today is +Day 1, and I have decided to start by not doing a body check for spots with a flashlight. I know it sounds crazy, but that's what things had come to.

Day 2 is going to be my removal from all things google health related. I have a busy day tomorrow, so I am hoping that makes it easier to resist!

Thanks for all of the help, everyone. Reading and supporting each other through out battles really helps me a lot!
