Sounds like it to me.  If I were you, I'd check out the book Eating for IBS and/or the website and there is another website I find helpful it is IBSgroup.org.  Taking calcium carbonate with Vitamin D a couple of time a day can help lessen the amount of times you need to go.  Caltrate with D either in tablet form or chews (like candy) is what I take and I've found it pretty effective.  Of course, there is trusty old Imodium which I always carry with me, just in case.  In fact, if I know I am going somewhere that they serve food, I'll take one before leaving the house as a precautionary measure.  But, don't take my word for it...Get yourself checked out first, but if they don't find anything then you probably have IBS.  Welcome to the club...crappy club (pun intended) but there are lots of us in it.

I get this too, aswell as a dull discomfort in my stomach and bowel area.
Sometimes i can pass a normal (ish) BM, sometimes i have to strain to get anything which gives a thinnish stool.

Sounds like IBS, but you may find that certain foods cause it more than other, e.g. foods with high fat content.

Learn to understand how your gut works and what foods are good for you and in what combination if for no other reason than reduce diverticulosis, which occurs normally with age.

You can develop IBS and IBS like problems at any age, problems in how you gut "functions". Here is good source material: "Eating for IBS" by H. Van Vorous and "Irritable Bowel Syndrome & the Mind-Body Brain-Gut Connection" by William B. Salt II M.D.

I just posted a thread about this! Lately, anything I eat makes me go to the bathroom. I too, cannot go without straining even loose stool.

This makes me feel better, actually. I doubt we all have Cancer.

You may want to consider your diet and whether the foods are causing spasms instead of the normal smooth peristaltic motion in the intestinal tract. For example, fatty foods stimulate much stronger contractions. You might also look into trying a probiotic like Culturelle or Align which are available over-the-counter.
