I've had tender, painful breasts for the past 10 days that began mid-cycle.  It is occuring in both and this is unusual for me and yes, I Googled because I'm almost 42 and wanted to see if this was a symptom of perimenopause.  I think a small part of me wanted to get wound up that this was something serious even though I'm fairly sure it isn't.  I find myself not being satisfied with finding nothing that indicates this is a potentially serious issue.  Everything I've read on numerous searches says that it's normal, that all women are different and that each period can be different depending on stress, caffeine intake, phase of life, etc.  It's like I want to find something that scares the 0103 out of me.  Or that because I'm not necessarily concerned about this that this time will be "the time" it is something serious.  My thinking is really, really screwed up.

Hi Josie
I think this is very normal. Some monthsI have very sore breasts and other months they arent as bad.  I also sometimes go up a full cup size before I start...then they go back to normal.  My Dr says this is just part of PMS and its very normal.  Hope this helps a bit!

Certainly helpful but I'm mostly commenting on my response to my response about knowing this is normal -- it feels a little like "accepting the diagnosis" -- I'm constantly amazed at how wiley my HA is.
