Panic and Jobs
« on: January 25, 2011, 01:34:42 PM »
Where do you work? I had a job for two years and loved it but I recently moved (which was my own decision...I wasn't forced).
Since I moved back in August I've had two jobs in 6 months. I worry about my resume and being able to get decent work in the future but I'm seriously re-thinking my current job...due to the anxiety it causes me. I guess I should say the increased anxiety it causes me. heh

Any tips? I've been taking Gaba and another mood medication that I got from a health food store, as well as St. John's Wort. I haven't experienced any change yet. I love to ask people what they do because I'm also re-evaluating what I do...and trying to weigh options.

Thank you so much!

Hi and welcome,

It is good to hear that you are sensitive to the stress your job is causing....exacerbation of anxiety!

I switched from a high stress position in an international corporation, to a position as librarian in a public library.

Now...all jobs present you with stress...almost a given, but it is true that some present you with the kinds of stress that you are not cut out for.

I had to get over my ego, when I made the switch after a major layoff.  Huge drop in pay and benefits.  Started as a clerk with really mindless /repetitive tasks.  I stuck it out as didn't want to move with the corporation and get laid off again in another town!

In the end it paid off.  Public librarians have more stress than those in private environments, but it turned out to be the kind of position that I excelled at.  Used skills learned in corporate environment to work with public.

Good luck.
