IT! (a poem about addiction)

It tempts you in

Gets under your skin

You cant say no

Your too scared to let go

 

Your feelings get denied

It takes away your pride

But you cant see

It wont happen to me

 

You lie and pretend

To family and friend

Its under control

Your just in a lull

 

You wake in a bad way

It wont hurt one more day

Then tomorrow that

I will defiantly quit

 

But when tomorrow comes

Its today that reruns

Youv committed to this life

Like to a husband or wife

 

So when will Mr Brownstone

Finally leave you alone

I will give you a clue

Its all down to you!

What I do know about addiction, is that red, yellow, black or white...rich, poor or middle america...genius, oaf or "normal", you will eventually be brought to your knees and humbled by what you think you can "control".
