A little about me
« on: January 04, 2011, 09:04:09 PM »
I have been suffering from anxiety and panic disorder for over six years now. My life enjoyment has continued to dwindle from the start. I have been through it all it seems, from the loss of really good job and going broke to the loss of my child. I am just not the man i use to be. I went from out going and always up to anything to being a recluse and not being able to support my wife and kids. I am just in a bad place in my life and need some support and understanding from other in my shoes with this condition. I know this may sound totally depressing but it goes along with it. Just want to be the person i use to be........................

Feeling like the way we panic suffers do stinks... what stinks worse is normal people who don't understand don't get it. They don't feel the fear that we feel. I am so sorry you are dealing with this.. but you have to remember who's in control. You are, and you can't let this disorder beat you. Don't ever give up fighting. Have you tried any type of medication?

Panic and anxiety takes so much from us......It can get really discouraging.  And it seems you've really been through alot.
I think we all know the feeling of losing ourselves to this disorder.  But there's always hope. even though it seems like a daily battle.
I guess it's just the cards we've been dealt.  There's nothing left to do but play the hand. Learn relaxation techniques, and ways to distract yourself.  maybe get into therapy.  Learn cognitive behavioral therapy.
I am a anxiety/panic sufferer who doesn't use meds.  I've tried them and didn't like them at all.  With or without meds, this disorder can be beaten.
Keep posting and reaching out.  We're all in this together........

Understand the condition and what makes things happens as they do could help you out. The more you learn about it the more you see it has got holes in it that you can take advantage of and start fighting back. As it is you have decided to take the flight option. Fight or flight. Flight is nearly always the option selected. Because it seems the logical option. And it gets you out of harms way. What if you didn't run? What would be the worse thing that could happen to you? A few bad feelings. Maybe a bit draining. But the more times you do anything the easier it gets. As a kid we all learn to ride a bike or swim. We might forget these things over the years. Not get on a bike or in a pool. But if we were to again we would find we could still ride that bike or still swim in that pool. Your old self is still there. It is just a case or learning things over again. Bit like starting from scratch. Working your way up. We do things slowly. No major rush. We have setbacks. But we see them for what they are. Just setbacks. Those old skills you once had are still there. You just have to believe in them. Learn how to use them once more. Then you will find that life waiting for you. Far from easy. But it can be done. It is worth the effort.
