out of time
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:45:26 AM »
My social anxiety has always made it all but impossible for me to talk to girls.  I get so nervous that there is just no way I could start a conversation with any girl i'm attracted to.  I havent really let this bother me too much until recently because i would always just tell myself "there is still plenty of time, I'll get over this and meet a girl next year" but here i am graduating college in a few months and never even had a girlfriend.  All my friends seem to have serious girlfriends that they will probably marry and a couple are even engaged.  But here i am socially crippled by anxiety the only one without someone and it's starting to make me miserable and lonely because i know i probably will never be able to get over this and will always be alone.  and even if i could overcome this and talk to girls who would want to go out with somebody who has never had a girlfriend because that clearly must mean i'm some kind of creep or something, or at least thats what i feel like people think.

Hello,

Welcome,

Don't be so hard on yourself.  Give yourself allot of credit,
your graduating from college,  53% of the population don't
graduate from college.  In time I'm sure you will find the right
girl and I'm sure she won't think your a creep,  she will think,
hey,  I  landed a guy with a college education,  he's pretty
smart !!  Don't rush it,  it will just happen.

I don't believe your social anxiety is all that bad,  there are
many,  many people who have dropped out of school because
they can't be around a large or small group of people.  Sounds
like you are just a little shy.  Many people,  when meeting a
girl / guy,  get tongue tied,  nervous,  embarrassed and so on.
Just be yourself,  you'll be fine.

Stop thinking about,  " What People Think ",  it really isn't
any business of yours what people think.

Good luck - you will be just fine
