Spent Christmas Eve in the ER this year!!!!
« on: December 24, 2010, 10:53:01 PM »
I started to get real bad runs of PVCs last night and since then have been in constant Bigeminy! Every other beat. I really started freaking out right before are annual Christmas party and took myself to the ER. I spent 5 hours there getting all the Blood work and Chest Xray done. They could see I was in constant Bigeminy but the Doctor brushed it off saying there completly harmless!!! Im so tired of Doctors not understanding these things feel like your Heart is stopping . And I can feel every Premature beat it is so ennoying and every beat scares the crap out of me. I finally got sent home and the party was about over. Im still sitting here freaking out about the PVCs but the Doctors refuse to take it seriously!!! Anybody else dealing with constant PVCS??????

At one point my in my life, I got many PVC's. I still get them occasionally and I am not
thrilled about it either. I would try some natural medications from a natural pharmacy. Here is Maryland,
there is a natural pharmacy with a MD on site. They may be able to give you advice on the phone.
There website is illnessisoptional.com.

you need to trust the doctors, if they say you are ok..you are ok. It's anxiety.

I get these too.  I notice is I just totally ignore them and go on about my business they stop.  BUT, when I used to worry and stress about them they would come back to back.  So scary, but harmless.

I have PVC's. They used to be more frequent but they don't really bother me. I probably get like 40/day now but the number was much higher when I drank a lot of caffeine and it happens more often when I am very anxious. The more you think about it, the more frequently you are going to get them...at least that has been my experience. And yes...they are harmless in those who don't have an underlying heart condition and they are also very common...even in those without anxiety. A lot of people don't even notice when they are having them.

Try to relax and not think bout it too much. Easier said than done...I know!

How do you know if you don't have a underlying heart condition, what test rule them out? Do you know?

AND  OMG yes I can relate to your PVC's or heart flutters. The pvc's haven't bothered me in the past but when they come with a sudden onset of a Tachycardia that's when I flipped out.  Haven't been right since.

But if you're just having occasional flutters that's no big cookie.

I had a workup at the cardiologists office...bloodwork, EKG, and an echo. I actually wasn't even going to get all of that done, but I decided to just get it, since some people in my family have been diagnosed with heart problems at a fairly young age. I also had a monitor for one month that I always had on and would press record when I felt flutters. I would then transmit them over the phone. Very cool thing to do! Technology has come such a long way. But everything came back fine.

lol

That's why I'm still anxious about my damned heart. The docs don't think it's even necessary for me to get reffered to a cardiologist. I'm like wtf, really? random palpitations that occur regularly that awake you from your sleep and a bunch of heart flutters don't constitute at least a echo or a halter monitor? Sometimes I swear I get random palpitations, about 120bpm out of no where for at least 3-4 mins.

I took the liberty of referring myself to cardiologist anyways, through the use of internet.

Hi Dragi, sorry to see you struggling with these symptoms. I feel your pain:) Remember, I thought (was 100% sure) that I had an organic issue with the heart, as well, many years ago. There was a time when no one could convince me that I wasn't near death, as I just knew my heart was gonna stop or, even worse, just explode into pieces inside my chest. That was just about 25 years ago...my heart is still pumpin strong for me:)

Here's what I found in literature for you about this condition:
All of us at one time or another experience occasional premature heartbeats. In isolation, these are not usually reason for concern. It is useful, however, to have an understanding of what can precipitate premature heartbeats, including bigeminal heart rhythms. Increasing age, tension, anxiety, overeating, exercise, and stimulants such as caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, and over-the-counter decongestants are all associated with greater frequency of premature heartbeats. Medical conditions may include an overactive thyroid and/or abnormal electrolytes, such as low potassium and magnesium levels. Even prescription medications, like diuretics, can deplete potassium and magnesium levels in the normal course of treatment for high blood pressure and cause increased numbers of premature beats.

In the absence of identifiable causes, premature beats, including bigeminy, are not typically treated. If a predisposing factor can be identified, treating or eliminating the predisposing factor usually reduces or eliminates the abnormal heart rhythm.

I do know that is it so, so difficult to not concern yourself...I was there...and it's our freakin' hearts, so we can feel all of these wacky beats and flutters. How's it going today? Any relief recently from the odd beats? Peace and Feel Well:)

Hi there,

I have PVC's as well too.  A number of things that are benign can cause them and I've found that my personal biggest trigger of them is dehydration.  Make SURE you are hydrated.

My husband is an EMT and says that we all have PVC's from time to time.  Most people don't notice them.  However, because we are more sensitive than most people that don't have health anxiety, we feel them in a major way.

Again, make sure you are hydrated!

Thank you so much guys! Hearing your experiences help a a lot. The PVCs/PACs have diminished a great  deal and as my HA habits go im on to a new fear of the week . Ive been having real sharp and squeezing  pains in my left upper ribs which im terrified might be Pancreatic Cancer !! I finally made a appointment with a counselor for me to get all my fears out in the open.
