The sign of a good Dr who understands HA
« on: December 14, 2010, 07:09:41 PM »
Okay, this is going to sound "Stalkerish", but I happened to find my hematologists email address. I emailed him last week asking him another question that I had forgot to ask him while on the phone with him. I left him my cell phone number. I didn't think he would call me, and instead just email me back and tell me to never email him again.
Well, he called me. Left me a very long voicemail, and answered my question.

So I emailed him back thanking him. I also let him know that my biopsy results from my eye were negative. Even though he is a hematologist, I thought I would let him know because he knows my biggest fear is cancer.

Can you believe he emailed me BACK?????? He told me he was very happy to hear that, and that he hoped I had a very nice holiday, and to go out and enjoy my life, and don't worry.

WHAT DR. DOES THAT????????? WOW...................That is what I call a great Dr.!

Hubby said he only emailed me back for fear I may find out where he lives :party0004:

He sounds like the type that is understanding and personable with patients, many doctors are all technicality.

I'm glad he told you to go out and enjoy your life. I'll bet that's a huge relief!

Yes. And he is also an Oncologist.
So many Dr's today are way to busy to even think about calling you back, let alone email you.

It did make me feel so much better.

I love my GP.  He is an alternative MD and is wonderful.  He also will email you back.  I emailed him once even tho I hadn't been in to see him in over a year he emailed me back the same day!  Once I told him my biggest problem was "fear".  He looked at me and said "Really, I wouldn't have guessed that, but I'm glad you told me, lets deal with that"!

Oh I know how you feel!  I had the BEST doctor.  He would actually PRAY with me, talk to me like I needed to be talked to (i.e. told I had to stop this and somehow manage to be understanding at the same time).  He was aware of my issues with OCD and HA and he treated me accordingly by not recommending tests unless he truly thought they were necessary.  He was ONE in a million!  BUT...he moved to Peru to run an orphanage for underpriviledged children this summer.  He left his nice house and his doctor salary to be a missionary in a violent place during uncertain times.  I told you he was one in a million!  But I miss him terribly!!!!   :traurig001:

I feel the same way about my Oncologist... I think they see so many people who don't get good news that maybe they appreciate their healthy patients and appreciate that they get a chance to be optimistic... I dunno...  But that's awesome that he took the time to email you back!!
