Preventing The Spiral

Anyone have any idea how I can stop spiralling down when I do feel depressed?  It's bad enough to ever feel depressed, but then I keep letting it get worse instead of waiting it out and getting better.  I am so sick of this cycle.  I work so hard mentally to think "properly". It is VERY upsetting that when I do seem to be at peace about things, I go to bed, have bad dreams related to it, and wake up depressed and worried about the SAME things all over again.  Then when I feel depressed, instead of me thinking this will go away I think "now I am going to get worse and worse and die".

Take your mind of it by doing something physically active or doing something mentally active. If you just sit and focus on the problems and your depression and anxiety it just gets worse. Whenever I find myself in troubled times I take some deep breaths and tell myself this will all get better one day, I just need to get through this rough time in my life and one day it will all be for the better in the end.
