GAD and Psychic Ability
« on: November 30, 2010, 01:54:39 AM »
I have precognitions.  Many instances of these have occurred and have been verified either by personal experience or by learning of their actualities via internet or television news stories.  Please, before you call me a kook please know I am going out on a limb simply by admitting this.  Every time I have one now I tell an outside party just so it can be verified, but they've been happening all my life.

Does anyone have psychic abilities and if so, do your predictions trigger anxious feelings or panic attacks?

I don't believe in psychic ability so I'm sorry I can't offer any advice.

Perhaps someone will pop in who does.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I kind of know what you mean  :winking0008:. Before I met my husband (22 years ago) I had a dream of a boyfriend coming to my house in a charcoal grey jeep. Low and behold he had a charcoal grey jeep. I think I always had something like deja vu (how do you spell that?) especially when I was younger. You know, at times I would feel as though I was experiencing the same thing twice. And this started at a very young age, like 3 or 4 years old. I don't think it is strage at all.

Sometimes I think physic abilities can simply be confused with intelligence or perceptiveness.

For example, I make predictions all the time about things. It's not because I have any special abilities, I am just simply perceptive and notice things. For example, people who are good on Wal Street are good because they notice things before other people do. They are simply perceptive, intelligent men/women...not powerful.

I once sat in my car waiting for a train, and had a 'premonition' that the train would stop. Low and behold, the train stopped minutes later...right on the tracks in front of me. Everyone was amazed at my abilities, but I explained to them that I could tell from the earlier train cars that the train was overloaded, and I could see that the tracks were not holding the weight well. Eventually, the train would have to stop. I was just very perceptive.

I am not saying that your abilites are not real...they may very well be. The human mind is an odd thing...so we can't jump to conclusions.

Well said by everyone.

I have specific precognitions with details including flight numbers, countries of origin, names of people and places I've never been, and even the times the events will occur.  The precognitions can involve severe accidents or disasters that happen to complete strangers or simply be something that positively affects people I know, but they are extremely specific most of the time.

Deja vu?  There are lots of theories to explain the phenomenon but I also have a lot of deja vu occurrences.  The psychic Sylvia Brown surmises that it is something that tells us we're on the right path of our predetermined "blueprint of life".  I don't completely agree because of course, there is free will, but it is intriguing nonetheless.

I mentioned my precognition because I think it ties in with my overall sensitivity and it's part of why I'm anxious.  However, I also embrace it and I'm glad it's a part of me.

Jung talks about this quite a bit. Our hypersensitivity often gives us a perspicacity--I remember telling my parents about "weird thoughts and feelings" I had about events in the present, past and future.

I would be careful to avoid lending too much credence to these precognitions. This can isolate and alienate people w/severe anxiety. Remember: this premonitions are normal, but I would never let them guide my actions.

Thanks for being honest w/a very difficult personal struggle.

Markidee, I truly have taken a casual stance on my abilities.  As you said, it can make an already anxious person worse.  That said, I still wanted to test the waters here on this forum and I hope others will come forward, not because I feel isolated by my "gift" but to see if others are pleased by, bothered by, or even affected by precognitions such as mine.

While I'm at it, I want to add that my sister also has GAD and PA and believes she has a ghost in her house.  Prior to a few years ago she was the most skeptical person I knew and frankly, she would still be had I not been open-minded toward her.  Still, I doubted her until I also heard it walking around.  So, one day a couple of years ago we were sitting around and "he" was making such a racket, I got him to make a statement that I caught on a digital recorder (you may have heard of "EVP").  Prior to that, I witnessed a female ghost walking around my former workplace and so did several others.

Whether or not something like this is related to psychic ability I don't know and won't stretch it to fit.  But I know what I've experienced.  The experiences were real and I have witnesses.  I enjoy it, to be honest!

No worries, then. I am made fearful by my feelings, and would prefer to rest in "unknowing" and letting that stuff be whatever it is... "There is more, dear Horatio than fits into [most peoples'] philosophies." Interesting post, Unsure!

When I was younger I could always tell if something was going to happen or not. For example if we had a trip planned or a party to go to. I'd know if we were going to go or if something was going to stop us. I would just get a strange feeling and it would always be right. Doesn't happen anymore though.
