When to a psycologist/md for avaluation.
« on: November 29, 2010, 01:06:28 PM »
It was a quick evaluation and he put me on prosac or something like that...which I've still got to go pick up. But I managed to tell him my problem and he said right away ahhh hypochondria lol. He also told me that an aneurysm would not happen in two or three months time.. that it actually takes a long time to develope MY GOD I'VE been waiting for that particular answer for a long time...and he's got two or three diplomas on his wall...maybe more. He also said web md is a definite no no..as are other internet sites. He even mentioned that his brother was a hypochondriac who googled flue like symptoms and thought he had some awful disease..and he said " I told my brother...you know what else can cause flue like symptoms? The fluuuuue!!!" lol he had a pretty good sense of humor too and had me cracking up. Needless to say he requested that I try therapy for this (which I have to make another appointment for) as therapy almost alway IS required for stuff like this. He also asked me how my mom died..how old she was ect.. I told him I was obsessed with dying young. He said how old are you? I said 20. He said my goodness that is wayyyy to young to be thinking of stuff like that. I also told him of all the doctors I saw..and of their oppinions..as well as my MRI...he said.. "what did you have an MRI foooor? I've NEVER had an MRI!! lol He also said that I probably wouldn't trust any doctors opinions even him with all his diplomas on the wall. I mentioned that I've already gotten 3 doctors opinions (counting the ER doc) and he said what about me??  I said ok four. lol. Anyway I just thought I'd let everyone know how I AM taking the steps to kick this thing. And maybe there will come a day when I'm not on this board as much whining about a symptom. lol

Hey Hypo1:) Congrats, hooray!:) Taking those first steps can be hard, but then you get the reward....some positive vibes!:) Excellent. Maybe the meds will give you a break from being overwhelmed, at times. Then you can take those OTHER steps NEEDED for your healing path:) Again, awesome job!:) Feel Well:)

Good for you, #1! A nurse told me the same thing about those medical websites, to stay off them and they're only good for if you've already been diagnosed with something to look up information on what to expect. Amazing how this goes, we get freaked out over something on a website, but we question people that have gone to school for 10 years and have a million diplomas, lol.
