Hey Ashz, I used to have this fear as well! It seems like as soon as you get over one fear it just goes to another one, but I was STUCK on the seizure thing for over a year! The reasoning is that I think it is because Ive witenessed a few, and they are'nt fun to see.  Chances are though, the people that have them, have epilepsy or another seizure disorder.  Epilepsy is the biggest thing for seizures and most people are diagnosed with this when they are young, and a lot of people grow out of it by there late teens, some dont though.  I guess over time my worry with seizures came to an end because I finally let myself believe that I do not have any health issue that would cause me to have a seizure, and that EVEN in the VERY RARE CHANCE that I ever did have a seizure, that I would come out of it alive.  If you have never had one, there is a very slim chance that you ever will, more people DO NOT have them, than people that DO! Just keep telling yourself this, even know you dont believe it at first, you will after you tell it to yourself enough! Hope I could help  :action-smiley-065:

I have 3 worries.. seizure,,, fainting in public,, and obv the d word.
But seizure is definately a fear somethimes if i get a bit shaky i think im gonna get one!
My sister used to ahve convulsion as a child and hers ranged from where she would just go blank to massive muscle spasms and loss of cociousness she cant remember these and grew out of them. I think now that if seizures are a scary thought i worry more like where ill e and will people help but i think if a person can deal with them all there lives without fear who am i to worry! im lucky some people have them every day xx

I know A LOT about seizures.  My daughter has a seizure disorder.  she had a whopper of one yesterday.  :sick0002: I can certainly tell you a lot about them.  If you'd like you can PM me and ask your specific questions.  I don't want to put all of that out here because seizures are one of those things that can scare people too much.

What I can tell you here is that MOST people who are going to get seizures have them by their teen years.  There is a small percentage of people who have adult onset epilepsy but it much more uncommon.  Those who start having seizures (and it isn't adult onset epilepsy) usually have had a trauma--head or brain tumor or dehydration sort of issues.  My sister's husband had a seizure one day and it turned out it was from dehydration.

There is a type of psychological disorder--caused by extreme anxiety/emotional disturbance called PNES--psychogenic non-epileptic seizures.  These are not epileptic seizures but issues coming from the physcological.  I have a good bit of info about this too.

One thing I know is that you can't "think" you are going to have one.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
