Increasing lexapro dose
« on: November 18, 2010, 09:02:29 PM »
So I am on lexapro 20 mg for OCD, and it has worked pretty well for me so far.  I started off on 10, then went to 15, now I am at 20.  I have been on it for a total of three months.  My doctor is happy to see that a lot of my symptoms are gone or more tolerable now, but he said he still thinks there is room for improvement, and maybe going to 25 or 30 would improve my lingering symptoms.  He said 30 is higher dose, but a a lot of people take 30 and higher doses.  Is it unusual to take higher than 20, or is 20 not that high of a dose?  Any feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks!

It is not a form of medication I am on. But from what I know of it you can go up to even 40mg of it. The way your doctor is doing things is the normal way. Starting off on the lowest dose and building it up higher. That is the way most do it. Just to see how you handle the various doses. If the next does was too much he would lower you back down to the dose that worked well for you. So nothing to worry about at all.

Thanks cuchculan.  My doctor said we are right around the right dose, now we are just making the fine adjustments so there should be nothing to worry about.  Thanks again.
