Hi!I'm 18, and I beat OCD on my own.

This is simple some quick background of myself in order to provide some insight and hope for many people.

My name is William

I am 18 years old.

I had OCD as a child for years. Eventually my OCD left me. I made a mistake and it brought my OCD back fiercely.

I couldn't stand being conscious. I tried to sleep as much as I could every day all day. Living was becoming a task, and a ridiculous one at that.

I had no access to professional help. As you can see, things could have went very down hill.

I had to do what I had to do.

Research. Forums. Thats what your doing now, your already on the right track to recovery. That was my first step. Day and night, it was the one thing that could Ironically take my mind OFF the ocd and its thoughts for a while.

Changed my life. Every link, branch, bit of text.

Eventually I started taking 5-HTP (An over the counter medication correlated with seratonin levels) and Sam-e (Same purpose, different compound/process)

After a few months I was finally able to see professional help and was clincally diagnosed with OCD, and although SEVERE in the past I had gotten such a grip on it I was out of that room in 10 minutes. I knew everything I needed to know.

I am now enjoying life again. I look back now and I chuckle slightly at how I thought it would truly be impossible to ever enjoy ANYTHING again.

Yes. OCD can be tough, life altering. Your not alone.

OCD can also be beat, by anyone- Even an 18 year old kid with no professional help or medication.

Keep reading, dont ever stop hoping, and focus on reality.

I'm glad you got through it!  I also on my own got through a lot of OCD stuff, although still am obsessive in general I guess.  CBT has helped me on my other anxiety issues, although so far it has been mighty slow.

It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
Its my life
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life
