My doctor stopped Celaxa after 2 weeks and give me wellbutrin
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:02:54 PM »
I am new here but have been reading the posts all weekend. For years my doctor knew I could not sleep well at night. A few months ago I had difficulty swallowing. After all kinds of medical tests my throat was fine. Somehow she figured out I had GAD.

Anyway after a few days on Celaxa  the lack of orgasm was evident. After two weeks we stopped it and she put my on Wellbutrin.  Has anyone gone this route? Has it worked? Still confused on her choice. Thank you

I had that side effect initially with Celexa, but after a month it's mostly subsided.

I think that the switch to welbutrin is normal.  I went through MAOI, then SSRI, then Welbutrin.  It works differently than SSRI and MAOI (though I still fail to find info on exactly HOW it works).  It's in a class of it's own.

I dont know the side effects because I never took it.  I switched doctors because I felt she didn't even review my chart when she wrote the RX for me.

I hope this helps and I hope the Welbutrin works out for you!  Sometimes, you have to ride out the side effects with these things for a good month before you know how it is really going to affect you.
