My new worry.
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:16:10 PM »
Ok so I have this doctors appointment tomorrow..(which I'm scared to death of because I don't know what they'll find.) And for two days now I've been worrying about hemorraghing. The cause of my worry? Since yesterday afternoone I'ver been constantly tasting blood in my mouth (constantly!) There is nothing in there..nor is there anything when I spit) However my tongue sort of had this red streak across it ..and to add to that I've been either having muscle spasms..or my heart/pulse has been beating so hard it makes me feel like I'm  jerking when I go to sit down. Add that to the fact that I have been dizzy..completely out of it..and yesterday I felt for sure I was going to pass out. Also sometimes the room looks fuzzy like I'm in a dream all the time and when I get up I feel it's hard to walk straight. Another thing is my stomache...I was nausiated this morning and I felt it kind of jerking up and down too. Someone help me please.. I am scared to death.

Also let me add that this bloddy taste is similar to one youd get if you'd cut your tongue. lol :sick0002:

I was just explaining much of what is going on with you to jenn in another post.

I get the blood taste too.  It seems to be my phelgm that flows down my throat.  completely gross. I also found when my gums are a bit irritated in spots, Ill taste blood.   We also have a symptom list that floats around here that describes odd tastes in the mouth being part of anxiety.

I know you don't believe anxiety can affect you so phsyically.  That is what it is soooo good at making us freak out.

here is a bit of that explanation.

Quote
Anxiety symptoms - Taste and smell symptoms - A “tinny,” “metallic,” “ammonia,” “blood-like,” bitter, or odd or unusual smell or taste in the mouth and/or nose
Taste and smell symptoms: You have a sporadic or persistent odd taste or smell. Some describe it as “tinny,” “metallic,” “ammonia,” “blood-like,” “blood in the mouth,” bitter, or some other odd smell or taste. This smell or taste is not related to  something you’ve eaten or from your environment. Most often it has no rational explanation.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

The only thing with this is that it happened kind of sudden as I have never had it this bad before with my anxiety. Also I just took one of my nerve pills and while that calmed my anxiety..I didn't take away the taste. It's an overwhelming taste..but I also see what you're saying about the metalic taste..this does kind of have a metalic quality as well.

not having had that as a symptom before means nothing.  Anxiety symptoms can either stay the same for years---until it loses the ability to frighten you. OR, and this happens more often than not, they change around and based on what you are fearing can be easily fit to the fear du jour.  EXample---those who fear heart attacks often feel tingly and weak limbs.  Those who fear a neuro nasty often feel tingly and weak limbs.  Those who fear DVT often feel cramps or sore spots in legs. Those who fear neuro nasty's often feel cramps and sore spots on legs.  Those who fear mouth or throat cancers often have burning/tingling/choking/bad tastes in the mouth.   If it all stayed the same all the time, anxiety just wouldn't be able to keep our attention.

It could still be a bit of gingivitis or phelgm going down the back of your throat.

ALL of your symptoms are easily explained by anxiety.

I don't know why you think you could be hemorraging?  For what reason?  Worrying about about it, just like worrying about anything, absent significant symptoms, to which you have not convinced me that you have, doesn't mean you are hemorraging.  A taste of blood would not mean that either.  I was worried about MS and I had a long list that proved it too.  And yet I do not have MS.  I worried about ovarian cancer and had a list of things that proved it.  And yet I do not have ovarian cancer.

That post right there really made me feel alot better..as did a website I recently checked listing the symptoms of a hemmorage. None of mine were there (except maybe a stomache thing..but not completely.)

It just seems that when I get ready to go to the doctor I always feel that if I go in thinking "it's nothing" then it will be something. But if I go in thinking it could be something..then there's a good chance it will be nothing. lol If that makes any sense. Also I found a weird new clump of veins in the white part of my right eye which has me concerned. Ugh here we go again..

this is a common trait amongst health anxiety people.  It is really akin to magical thinking.

Yes, rarely has what I've feared come true...I mean RARELY:) And it seems those events that have caused me grief / stress have simply come out of the blue, fate it you will...and I've had no control over it. So, I try not to do the "what ifs", as much as possible:) Feel Well:)
