Hi HA gang,

So my spouse who is in her late 20's usually has a cycle around 33-34 days. She recently came off Deprovera (sp?) about 8 months ago, and since then it's been very inconsistent, sometimes 32 days, sometimes 37 depending on stress. Right now she's around 40-42 days. She had some spotting in the past month for about a week, dark thick liquid which made us think she could be pregnant. She's taken 2 pregnancy tests at home, both negative, in the past couple days. This past while has been the paramount of stress for her, she just quit a new job which was very hard on her, and family stuff has been taking its tole, so there is a significant stress factor.

Can any ladies relate to this? We're thinking she just missed her period entirely due to stress, she will be going to the doctor this coming week to get checked out. Any input is appreciated.

When you say she just got pregnant, therefore a negative test, do you mean she got pregnant after we took the test?

She's done 2 tests, one when she was 2 days late, and one 2 nights ago at about 7 days late. We haven't had sex in a few weeks.

Almost ceratinly just stress affecting her period.
Especially if you haven't actually had sex. That and a negative couple of tests.
Best get her to see the Dr for a check up.

cycles fluctuate.  it is likely she didn't ovulate at the "usual" time.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

yes jc that's what I meant. she could have gotten pregnant later than you thought causing the negative. but seeing as how that is not a likely option with your response I'm willing to.bet its a.normal variation based on stress and other normal things.
I say no worries. with me, I often fluctuate a lot. but I never miss a month. so if it were me if wait tI see if I skip.this month. if I do then ill.head to the doc.

Thanks everyone, I'll update once she's gone to the doc. What makes this good difficult is that she's been on Depo for so long, where you don't actually get any periods or period symptoms, that we have no real idea of what to expect as her body re-adjusts! Thanks again

It happens when hormones are not regular. Most Dr's won't worry at all until you go several months without. They'll do a blood test for pregnancy as the first step. The Dr can give her hormones that will kick start her period to confirm that hormones are off but the Dr might want to wait for another month to see if it will come.
