9 months later and I am back - PLEASE HELP
« on: October 07, 2010, 10:07:25 PM »
Early this year I chatted with someone on craigslist casual encounters and the person was 24. We exchanged some emails and pics. After we were done I had a fear that maybe this was a minor posing as an adult, kind of a reverse of the usual. Of course I had a fear of FBI or police and was staring out windows, etc. It was terrifying and lasted like 2 weeks then it went away. A few weeks ago I started to feel sick and my hypochondria kicked in and then the thought of the fbi, police started again. Here is one to top it. This morning I was leaving for work at like 6:45. 3 vehicles drove past my house and went around our subdivision cirle and left. the plates said US Government. I was outside at the time. Now my mind is racing like crazy. i have been online all day doing research and it said that search warrants can be issued from 6:00 am to 10 pm. Why else would 3 US Government plated vehicles drive through a new subdivision at 6:45 am. In my mind, they decided to keep driving and will come back. I keep looking out the window now. Please help me....

I highly doubt you had anything to worry about back 9 months ago.  And it is highly unlikely that US Government cars were casing your house.  This is your OCD doing all of your thinking for you.  I see US Gov cars quite often riding around my town.

When I was worried about a gas well on our property that had a small leak on it (before we had it repaired), everytime I saw an Environmental Agency car driving anywhere around our town--and believe me these are NOT very common--I always thought they were coming to our house.  It is a bit of a guilty conscious mucking with you---even though you really did nothing wrong.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

The thing that freaks me out is that 3 of them in a row drove past that early. I can't figure out what other reason they would have.

tone--

IF you actually talked to a minor and there was a warrant out for you, THREE fed cars would not be sent out for you--not to mention 9 months later.   That's just a bit of over kill.  You are not some freaky terrorist on a watch list.

another story for you----

about 4 or 5 yrs ago my nephew and a friend decided one day to (actually it was the friend's idea)  prank the friend's  former teacher.  They stupidly sent her a threatening e'mail to the school.  Well the school called the cops---the secret service  (yep secret service you would think the FBI) were called.  Both my nephew and his friend had them at their doorsteps within 2 days of the e'mail.  One fed per kid----

because you have an anxiety disorder.  It feels real because the irrational mind is MUCH LOUDER AND NASTIER than the rational mind.  It makes you listen.

Tone what are you doing to help with these thoughts?

stop checking for one... this just keeps your anxiety amped up.

maybe look into some counseling to help with some of this faulty thinking.

Is it common for this to come and go months at a time?
