I'm not sure if it's wise to ask a doctor to run various tests just because you think you need it. Both because you know it's most likely H.A. and because sometimes they get offended by patients telling them what to do etc. MRI is often ordered to rule out MS. I guess eventually he'll order one if you keep coming back with symtomps that can be MS. On my first neuro visit I told the doctor my initial symptoms (numbness/tingling/dizziness/ears ringing/headaches) and he ordered an MRI right away just to be sure (and it came back negative). Or maybe you could try a different doctor. Anyways, where I live PC doctors can't even order MRIs.. they have to send you a specialist (neurologist) who can order it if it's necessary. It's probably to ease the burden on MR labs doing unnecessary studies yet it takes three months to get an appointment. Either way, you have to convince him that you keep having the same symptoms that are real and they don't seem go away and that it seriously interferes with you life so you need help and you're afraid that it can be MS. I'd happily make a bet that it's HA :)

I think it depends on the doctor, your relationship with him and if your symptoms are
persistent and possibly worsening. I have had countless tests over the years and I have
found that in some cases the more you complain, the better chance you may have them
ordering a test. I have suggested tests in the past and some have been performed. My ENT
doctor told me once that persistent tinnitus can be a basis for an MRI of the head. He also told
me the symptoms need to warrant the test so insurance will pay.
