Making my introduction
« on: September 07, 2010, 05:12:49 PM »
I am a 22 year old female that is recently struggling with anxiety and depression. This all started a few months ago after I had problems with my depression meds. I am hoping to be able to talk to other people and relate to their stories and see if I can't overcome my issues.

DON'T ever let anxiety define who you are.  You are NOT anxiety.

Hello               :action-smiley-065:

Welcome, sure you will find this site supportive.

Have to echo what " Spike ' asked.

Have you talked with your doctor about possibly changing your meds ?

Once again, welcome and have a good day

I would have to say that my anxiety is caused by my depression. Depression runs in my family and I have tried for years to get by without medication but I just can't. I was on Zoloft from November to around April when I had a problem with the pharmacy and my doctor, resulting in a 5 day lapse in my medication. I went into a downward spiral into depression and was the lowest I've ever been in my life. I was weaned off of the Zoloft and on to Paxil. I was on that for about 2 months and nothing seemed to help the depression. My doc then put me on Wellbutrin which did nothing but make my anxiety sky rocket (it helped in other areas but not the ones I really wanted). I went to a different doctor who said that I should have never been put on Wellbutrin and he put me back on Zoloft, as he agreed with me that that is what I responded best to, it was just the withdrawing from it that scared me to death, so I asked to be taken off of it.

So, since being on all of those medications I have had these thoughts that I dwell on (that I have to say are completely unrealistic and ridiculous) that cause me really bad anxiety. I try and get them out of my head but it's really hard. I feel like they are getting better since my doc upped my dosage from 25mg to 50mg but they are still there. I am just hoping there is a light at the end of this tunnel for me.
