clonazepam/prozac
« on: September 04, 2010, 05:30:12 PM »
What are the side effects? Startedd taking clonazepam 9 days ago .5mg and prozac 6 days ago 10mg. How long does it take to completley be in your system? Tired of feeling weak, irritable, no appetite an not able to stay asleep. Any help?

I take clonazepam daily. it usually takes 30 mins to an hour to kick in, depending on if you've eaten or not. lasts for 12 hours.

side effects are commonly dizziness and feeling sleepy, but these are rare and usually fade after taking it regularly for a week.

I don't know anything about prozac. but my old man takes it daily and has never mentioned a side effect (and he always tells me about his health)

so, I wouldn't worry. :)

The clonazepam makes me feel good, but they are trying to wean me off that and put me on prozac. - think when I started taking the prozac I was getting the side effects(,ervousness and loss of asppetite and lack of good sleep)

I have read that you can have the sleeplessness and nervousness on prozac, but they should go away over time.  I was on for about a year once, and at first I had heart palpitations for a couple of weeks.  After that it was pretty much just a little dry mouth and some weight gain.  I felt great on it though so I've just started it up again.

I'm on clonazepam/paxil. Same initial reactions; you'll wake up one morning soon and feel better. It's not like magic, but it helps.

My goal is always to slow my thoughts/emotions enough to be useful in my family & work; it also gives you the mental dexterity to "make changes that heal." I don't think the SSRIs or benzos heal--for me, they are a daily reprieve--like daily bread--that allows me to do the real work of healing (CBT, exercise, meditation, society, hobbies, interest in others, etc.).

I hope this is encouraging and not daunting.
