Best way:
Get a disability lawyer
Average time is 3-6 months for approval
Make sure your psychiatrist supports your claim

If you file yourself, w/o a lawyer, the questionnaire is quite complex,
just answer one question, that is questionable by the review board,
you will be disqualified without an explanation. You will receive a
notice just saying, disqualified. The lawyers know how to answer
all the questions so nothing is questionable.

I'm in Canada and I'm not on disability, but I am on welfare.  Sadly its not much to get by on...but its something.

I know this an older post.

But I used a lawyer, it took from start to finish 3 years from filling out the initial form to the first payment.

And I hate every minute of having to be on it.  I've tried many times to work but it never happens.  It's a long, painful process that will fix some things and might actually make you feel worse in the end.

I too am looking into disablity at this point. I don't seem to function correctly at work anymore and its only getting worse. I was hospitalized last month for work related stress induced psychosis due to work. I lost my job as a consequence and I feel that I too should look into disability.

It takes a long time because they number one, are the government and are slow.  Secondly, they want you to give up and not have to give it to you.

But like my docs said, if you have to, you have to.
