A poem
« on: August 23, 2010, 07:31:11 PM »
"Acceptance"

Not for me, a quiet walk, it is a pleasant day,
Cream clouds of fluff, a gentle breeze, a sky that's far from grey.
I turn my eye
From the sunny sky,
The wind so soft and calm-
I want to see the rising river burst the f***ing dam!
Make me jolt as you smash those waves against the rocks!
Strike the lightening bolts into unsuspecting weather cocks!
Show some girth and shake this earth
Make the skies scream in pain
Let us know we're born, oh Lord
The rain, the rain, the rain!

The genius poet strikes again. A man of many talents Si. Auch sure will I write one too? Just so your poem won't be alone. Then maybe we can start a poetry thread. Others might post their poems as well.

For people wondering, cailin = girl in gaelic and sean-nos is a song without music.

An Island Sean-Nos

A cailín sat sweet
On the rocks by the sea
Singing a sean-nos
That her lover might be
Safe on the waves
That battered the shore
And carry him back
To his cailín once more,
She sang to the wind
' Please carry my song
To the heart of my lover
Were my words belong,
I'll wait here forever
Till he's back in my arms
And I see that my lover
Has come to no harm ',
A cailín sat waiting
As day turned to night
Still singing her sean-nos
At the sight of first light,
Her words for her lover
Whose boat failed to show
In the raging wild waters
That crashed hard below,
She cried to the wind
' My heart's filled with pain
And I yearn for my lover
To come home again,
If he's lost and in trouble
By his side I must be
I must join my sweet love
In the raging wild sea ',
A cailín once stood
On the roacks with the wind
For the heart of her lover
To the sea she went in,
So sad was this cailín
That walked under the tide
To find her lost sweetheart
And rest by his side,
O'er the whole island
Her loss it was mourned
For her lover at sea
The wild wind had warned,
He pulled on the oars
Through waters he fought
And the boat to the island
Safely he'd brought,
With the weather a raging
At the inn he did stay
And there he awoke
With the break of the day,
He made his way o'er land
With his true love in mind
But when he reached home
No sign could he find,
Was when the call came
That a body was found
Screaming ' My cailín '
He fell to the ground,
' Had the wind not took me
O'er the east's way
Then my cailín by my side
Would be here today,
Was on the west waiting
Where's I'd normally row
That my sweet love had sat
And her life it did go ',
That night as the light fell
He went to the sea
' You've taken my cailín
Now you take me ',
And the islanders mourned
As they laid the pair down
Together once more
Beneath the cold island ground.

Ah, sure that was mighty, Cuch..  I think I've just become a worshipper at the Church of Cuch!  Good work, my man.
