bed bugs - cross posting
« on: August 22, 2010, 07:20:28 PM »
crossposting for as much support as i can get.

so, i hate the news. i normall post on the hypochondria forum but along with my HA i have a little bug phobia. roaches, fleas, ticks, LICE and bedbugs. anything that can become an INFESTATION.
i have had the bedbug obsession before a few years ago when they said they were making a comeback.
but, now with all the news about them really being infesting places like hotels and movie theaters!

so, i just investigated my mattresses. cleaned under the beds. vacuumed the box springs, etc. i cleaned baseboards and basically inspected each bedroom.  i found some dead bugs while cleaning, ants, gnats, who knows what, and i inspected each one. very ocd-like. sigh. a couple of them looked similar to bedbugs but i'm not a bug expert and my reasonable side said they could be anything and they were long dead. AND i  don't see any signs of infestation at all(yes i googled)and none of us have any bites or anything...  so, now i'm startng that ocd spiral that i can't go to any hotel or let my husband go to one. AND, i'm scared to even go spend the weekend at my friends house labor day, which i really want to do. i'm really pissed that the news might have triggered this for me again.

how can i stop this? i keep telling myself that if it happens, it won't be the end of the world....but, i'm not convinced yet.

thanks for any advice.

this is a double post so I am going to lock it.  If you have any helpful advice, you can post it here:

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
