Almond milk recipe
« on: August 22, 2010, 02:38:41 PM »
1 cup raw almonds.
filtered water.
1 tsp. vanilla (optional)
4 tbsp. agave syrup or honey (optional)
1 tsp. Sea salt (real sea salt not the processed white kind or it will taste funny-lol) note: if you use table salt 1/4 tsp will do.
a nut bag, or clean cheese cloth, or clean flour sack cloth.
soak almonds in water/ fridge for 3-8 hours (a day is good too).
dump almonds and water into blender along with 3 cups filtered water (depending how large your blender is).
*do not add your other ingrediants yet*
run the blender up to "liquify" for a minute.
poor through your cloth to strain through thoroughly. squeeze out.
you can place the almond pulp back into the blender and give it another run with some more filtered water and repeat.
so you have used the 1 cup almonds twice. the almond pulp can be set aside and save in the fridge a couple days to put on cereal, in cookies, bread, pudding, top ice cream, etc.
rinse out your blender and add your strained almond milk back into your blender and blend your other ingrediants-it should be refridgerated and frothy.
will stay good in a covered container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
