Dear Members

The Ajax Chat system will be reinstalled in an attempt to correct issues some members are experiencing. This should be a quick and painless process. Thank you so much for your continued patience while we work on providing the best user experience possible  :happy0151:

The Ajax Chat system has been reinstalled and the following issues fixed...

1) Entire chat window disappears briefly each time a new message is sent.
2) Rather than a scrollbar appearing as new messages accumulate, messages simply scroll off the top of the chat window and disappear making it impossible to keep up with the conversation.
3) Only 10 messages are visible at any one time.
4) Visual elements of Ajax Chat room appear "jumpy" or "jittery".
5) Font color must be chosen each time a new message is sent.
6) Members getting booted out after very brief periods of inactivity.

Still to do...

1) Add additional emoticons.
2) Possibly tabbed private messages.

It may be necessary to clear your browser's history and cache to see any new changes.

Thank you for your patience!.

Ajax Chat Update...

1) Maximum room capacity has been doubled (now set to 50).
2) Logout after xx minutes of inactivity has been doubled (now set to 120 minutes).
3) Now 50 (rather than 10) messages are displayed upon logging into the Ajax chat room - allowing you to gain a better understanding of what was being discussed before you logged in.

You may need to log out of the Ajax Chat room, clear your browser's cache and history and then log back in again to see any changes.

Still to do...

1) Add more emoticons.
2) Possibly tabbed private messages.

Emoticons have been installed (including many new ones).

Again, you may need to log out of the Ajax Chat room, clear your browser's cache and history and then log back in again to see any changes.

Still to do...

1) Possibly tabbed private messages.

Another Ajax Chat Update...

1) Added 14 more emoticons.
2) Fixed issue where submit button was not showing in the Opera web Browser.
3) Fixed issue where emoticons would conceal submit button in 800x600 resolution.

You may need to log out of the Ajax Chat room, clear your browser's cache and history and then log back in again to see any changes.

Still to do...

1) Possibly tabbed private messages.

Yet another Ajax Chat update...

1) Added full support for 800x600, 1028x768 and higher resolutions in IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari.
2) About 4 additional emoticons will be added shortly.
3) Started examining the code for tabbed PM windows and Avatars.

It would be interesting to know what resolution is most used here since by modifying Ajax Chat for 1024x768 another 30 or so emoticons could be added.

Important: It has been discovered recently that turning off all Compatibility View Settings in IE8, completely eliminates any usability issues with Ajax Chat. To completely disable these setting in IE8 go to "Tools" and then "Compatibility View Settings". Make sure none of the boxes at the bottom are ticked and that "anxietyzone.com" does not appear in the list. Also, make sure that Tools>Compatibility View in the IE8 menu does not have a check next to it.

Ajax chat has been configured to check for inactivity every 5 minutes and to automatically log off chatters who have not typed anything into the input form within 10 minutes. This prevents the room from filling up with inactive chatters or those who have exited the chat without actually logging off first, creating "ghost users".
