I think I may have this ... help?
« on: February 28, 2006, 11:54:08 AM »
Hi,  here's my story.  I'm 27 years old and have had anxiety (panic attacks) for the past 7 years.  I've been to many doctors, been on different meds, but the problem persists.  Within the last year, I developed hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).  The doctors thought that was the entire cause of my anxiety, because when your sugar gets low you can have panic attack like symptoms.  However, although it is true this happens, the anxiety also happens when my sugar level is fine.  I have had considerable weight loss as well, but this is easily explained by my change in diet to a low carb diet due to the hypoglycemia.

Lately, I have become more convinced that perhaps all of these problems are only signs of a much larger problem, and fear that perhaps I have some cancer or disease and am dying.  This fear is somewhat fueled by my psychiatrist who also feels that these things are caused by a larger problem.  He wants me to have a full body CAT scan.  But the reality is, it is much more likely that these problems are not caused by something catostrophic.  Though I still worry about it alot.

Do any of you have any suggestions that might help?  I really appreciate it.
