Introduction
« on: July 16, 2010, 03:45:14 PM »
Hi,

I'm Aaron.

I've had anxiety now for approx 4 months, but without finding an environmental reason for it. I often get chest pains, pins and needles in toes and fingers, as well as muscular pain in shoulders, arms and legs. I have good days, and bad days; with no apparent reason why they occur. When I have a bad day, I usually wake up with a feeling of tingling in my toes, then the day usually gets worse and lasts for around 2 days. These often occur the day after I exercise at the gym.
During the 'good' days, I don't get any of the symptoms described above and feel great.

I have been to my GP, who prescribed me Citalopram 10mg, now on 20mg. I've also had congintive therapy, acupuncture, massages and tried to use breathing and relaxation techniques. I considered at one time that it may be work-related, but I enjoy my job, although don't fill quite fulfilled (but who does?).

I've had an ECG and blood tests and have come back okay. My worry is that my anxiety have been caused by my use of a cathinone substance, Methedrone (when it was legal in the UK). I used this recreationally for around 6 months, the last time I took it resulted in chest pains, which triggered panic attacks. I'm keen to here if anyone has had any experience in using stimulants which could have caused anxiety. I've now stopped taking any substances.

Thanks

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I don't think the use of stmulants actually caused my anxiety, but I can see how the chest pains could have given you anxiety though. I drink a lot of coffee and smoke, and I can definately tell that they intensify the symptoms of anxiety if I have a littlle too much.

Hey Arron, welcome.
My anxiety was caused by drug use, wasn't a stimulate though.
Difficult to believe, but I found stimulates help reduce my anxiety,
I probably have a weird chemical makeup.
Once again, welcome

Alcohol is also a very anxiety producing substance when abused, even though it is a depressant and not a stimulant.
