Ugh! SSRI side effects return?
« on: June 14, 2010, 11:38:02 AM »
Hi all, I've been on Celexa 8 1/2 weeks. My side effects had mostly gone away about 2 weeks ago.  A long haul.  I was sleeping better and my twitching while falling asleep had stopped.  I had been feeling pretty good even though I'm only on 10mgs.  My anxiety had been dramatically better for the full 2 weeks.  But I was still tired during the day - more than I wanted to be.

I had been taking 5 mgs in the morning and 5mgs at night.  I decided to take all 10 at night to see if my tiredness would go away.  Instead I found that I started sleeping horribly (worse than I was even in the beginning), my twitching came back, and I've been feeling very anxious.  Does it make sense that just moving the timing of taking that one 5mgs from the morning to the night would make that big of a difference?  Seems like it shouldn't . . . Has anyone else had timing of medication make that big a difference?

I'm going to see my psychiatrist today but often you guys are more helpful than a shrink as you've got the real-life experience.  Thanks all!

In theory, it should not as there is a steady state in the bloodstream.  In my experience, it does make a difference in how I feel and the side effects I experience.

I agree it shouldn't - it's got a 37 hour half life and I've got enough in my system.  I went back to my old dosing timing yesterday and, while I didn't sleep perfectly, it was much better than the prior two nights.  Go figure.  Some of this stuff feels a little like voodoo medicine . . .
