thought I was okay, but now not so sure...
« on: June 10, 2010, 07:13:45 PM »
I have been feeling great the past couple weeks, but today started to worry again....I had an MRI of my brain last week, and all was normal.

All along I have been having double vision. I have had double vision since childhood. I have a lazy eye (right side), so that eye tends to turn in. In the last few years, I have had good enough vision to not have to wear glasses.

Recently though, the double vision is back. It's bad especially when I look to the right side. When I take a video of myself, I notice that my LEFT eye is now pulling in....not my right. I'm freaked out. Is it normal for this kind of thing to switch eyes?

I'm sure if it had to do with nerves, it would show up on MRI, no? I've had eye exams recently, and the doc made no comment about this. I'm not sure if I'm confused and it has been the left eye all along.

Should I go back to the optometrist? I'm not sure what is going on. Otherwise, I feel fine. Trying to stay positive, but it is hard work!!

If your MRI was clear, then it isn't a neuro nasty at work here.

If you have a history of lazy eye, then it could be that.  And if you been feeling more stressed it could make an lazy eye react more.  Honestly though, I would make an appointment with an opthamologist.  Tell him your history with your eyes.  He can check the muscles etc.  Sometimes wearing an eye patch will help with that.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
