tests can be so worrisome - and the abdominal ones are hard to complete AND hard to wait for results.  How was the drink for the abdominal CT?  My sister is having one tomorrow and is freaked out about trying to get the drink down without getting sick.  Waiting to take an upcoming test is the worst!  Why do they want you to take it?

Glad I read this. I have had some bladder issues off and on since March. Numerous tests..urine is always clear, no sign of infection, no kidney stones, etc. I have been to the GYN, all tests were normal, had blood work, everything was good. I was then referred to a urologist and I had an ultrasound of bladder and kidneys and that was normal also! I have been having back pain also, accompanied with nausea off and on. The pressure and urgency comes and goes. For the most part has not bothered me in several weeks now but the back pain and nausea are the main symptoms now. The back pain feels like it is coming from my kidneys but they saw no kidney stones nor any abnormalities with kidneys or bladder...so it is really frustrating. :fragend005: I am glad that nothing was found, but at the same time I want the symptoms to go also! At that point I was referred to see a Gastro Doc, but I started to feel amazingly well again and cancelled the appointment last week! ::)
This week the nausea and back pain is back again. I feel like something is inflamed..it is hard to describe. I feel gassy at times, but not sure what it is. I have been thinking that maybe I should call back and reschedule that appointment.
I am nervous about going though. What will they do I wonder? The anxiety is high right now with constantly wanting this pain to leave and the nausea drives me nuts since it messes my appetite up. I feel like I am stressed with this. The anxiety sky-rockets at the doctor's office so I know if I go to a new doctor (GI doc), that I will be so nervous. I just don't look forward to going to the doctor at all- especially a new one.

Oh, and yes a CT scan w/dye shows everything. Your lungs are fine. I had that done a few times. They evidently did not see anything with your lungs. Anxiety can do so much to the body. I have been in the ER and doc's offices many of times for shortness of breath, and trouble swallowing also, and they have done EKGs and always find nothing! They told me I had gastritis a few times. That was easily treated with Pepcid AC and Ibuprofen (for inflammation). Acid reflux and gastritis etc. can make you feel tight in your chest...I know I did!

Found a good snippet on GERD, Gastritis issues that cause Shortness of breath and even palpations, and as many of you know IBS, Gerd and stomch issues are very common with anxiety people out there....

"Basically as the acid aspirates or spews into your esophogus and trachea, the fumes from the acid is breathed into your lungs causing slight or microscopic swelling which cannot be seen by standard tests!!! I was put on nexium 40 milligrams twice a day which stopped the pain in my chest and stomach after 3 weeks. However I still had shortness of breath. The new pulmonologist told me to go to the local store and buy Gaviscon. I bought the tablets and was on nexium twice a day, donatal (helps with esophagal spasms- when acid is spewing into it,it causes chest pain and tightness) and GAVISCON two to four tablets (chewable not liquid) after i eat so about 4 times a day. It's the ONLY medication out there that has the power to coat your esophagus. Miraculously, with this cocktail which together calms the spasms, coats the esphopagus, and acts as an antacid, after 3 days the shortness of breath subsided!!!! Before these medications i was yawning and laboring to bring up my diaphram toget a satisfied breath for months til i discovered GAVISCON! i'm telling you it WORKS! I have stayed in bed, changed my diet to less acid food, given up soda and coffee, taken all the meds and feel so much better! If your shortness of breath is gerd related and you feel like you cant breath, take comfort in knowing after your oxygen levels show fine, know that you are getting enough air in and arent dying!! I was SO scared but knew that the laboured breathing was giving my body what it needed. It was just a matter of time and patience! I really hope this helps, any questions I will happily answer. "
